Job Description

The Health Information Services (HIS) department is seeking highly motivated and excellent clerks to join our Richmond campus on a permanent full time or part-time basis. Our operational business hours are from 08:00am to 21:30pm, Monday through to Friday. Please note, you will be required to work onsite in this position, there is no capability to support working from home in this role.

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Scanning paper-based patient medical records using the BOSSnet Digital Medical Record system.
  • Answering telephone enquiries.
  • Responding to information requests in accordance with the department’s release of information guidelines.
  • Collecting, scanning and re-directing mail.
  • Performing general department administration duties as required

Qualifications

You will bring:

  • Excellent customer service skills with a focus on meeting the needs of internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills in order to effectively coordinate the various processes and steps involved in the process
  • Excellent organisational skills with a proven ability to prioritise workload effectively and meet deadlines
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with a professional telephone manner, and an ability to clearly and coherently convey relevant information to all stakeholders, both internal and external to Epworth
  • Intermediate working knowledge of the Microsoft Outlook Suite (primarily Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft Office)
  • A solid work ethic, and an ability to work autonomously within a team in order to ensure all work is completed in a timely manner
  • Proven high attention to detail and diligence to ensure correct patient information is released at all times
  • Flexibility in a changing work environment with an openness to changing processes and procedures

Desirable (non-essential):

  • Previous experience in similar role
  • Previous experience with a Patient Administration System (iPM, WebPAS, TrakCare) and a Scanned Medical Record (BOSSnet or CPF)
  • Working knowledge of Medical Terminology

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) has been providing outstanding care for Victoria's children and their families for over 147 years.

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.

With a passionate, highly skilled and committed staff campus wide of over 5,000, we provide a full range of clinical services, tertiary care and health promotion and prevention programs for children and young people.

We are the designated state-wide major trauma centre for paediatrics in Victoria and a Nationally Funded Centre for cardiac and liver transplantation.

When it comes to training and research we partner with the very best. Our campus partners, the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute (MCRI) and The University of Melbourne Department of Paediatrics, along with the RCH Foundation, are on site with the hospital in Parkville.
