Huron Managed Services partners with Hutchinson Health to provide operational and administrative support across key healthcare functions. The HIM Specialist is responsible for maintaining the integrity, completeness, and compliance of patient health records through effective management of electronic health record (EHR) documentation, record completion workflows, and health information processes. This role supports regulatory compliance, documentation quality, and overall operational excellence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Review medical records for completeness and assign documentation deficiencies.
• Monitor and manage record completion and document imaging workflows.
• Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the electronic health record (EHR).
• Partner with providers and clinical staff to resolve missing or incomplete documentation.
• Perform quality reviews to ensure documentation compliance and accuracy.
• Support release-of-information activities in accordance with regulatory requirements.
• Participate in process improvement and quality assurance initiatives.
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA and all applicable privacy and security regulations.
• Collaborate effectively with internal teams, providers, and client stakeholders.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2+ years of HIM, medical records, or related healthcare experience.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and health record documentation requirements.
• Experience working within an EHR environment preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and protected health information requirements.
• Current permanent U.S. work authorization required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Associate degree in Health Information Management or related field.
• RHIT or RHIA certification.
• Experience with chart analysis, record completion, and documentation management workflows.

The estimated hourly pay for this job is $19.23 - $25.96. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to specific skills or certifications, years of experience, market changes, and required travel. The job is also eligible to participate in Huron’s benefit plans which include medical, dental and vision coverage and other wellness programs.
