The Health Information Management Quality Analyst performs regulatory record review, documentation assessment, data analysis, and quality monitoring in accordance with state, federal, and regulatory requirements. This role identifies documentation trends, supports training and data validation, monitors vendor quality auditing and SLA performance, supports Epic workflow performance improvement initiatives, and reports documentation and compliance trends to HIM leadership and operational partners.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Data Analytics and Reporting

  • Analyze record content to identify documentation trends, data concerns, and quality opportunities.
  • Report documentation trends to management for training, data validation, and performance improvement.
  • Prepare analytics and summaries to support regulatory compliance and HIM operational decision-making.

Regulatory Compliance and Data Collection

  • Perform regulatory record reviews and documentation assessments in accordance with state, federal, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure documentation includes required components and meets established standards.
  • Monitor medical staff bylaws for documentation compliance and report successes or failures to appropriate leaders for follow-up.

Performance Oversight

  • Oversee vendor quality auditing processes to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Monitor service level agreements, vendor dashboards, and vendor performance metrics.

Regulatory Reporting and Monitoring

  • Monitor and evaluate facility-specific trends in data submissions to entities such as the Georgia Hospital Association, The Joint Commission, and other regulatory or oversight entities.
  • Identify facility-specific data trends and communicate risks, gaps, and corrective action needs.

Performance Improvement and Initiatives

  • Support Epic workflow optimization and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in special projects aimed at improving documentation quality and operational efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities to improve regulatory documentation, vendor performance, and data integrity processes.

Collaboration and Leadership Support

  • Collaborate with HIM leaders and operational teams to ensure vendor activities align with organizational goals and performance standards.
  • Share results with health system leaders as requested.

Additional Duties as Assigned

  • Employee will perform additional duties as assigned, within scope, as defined and requested by leadership.

  • No travel required.

Work Type

  • Hybrid employee - splits time between working remotely and working in the office.

Minimum Required Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in Health Information Management with a focus on record content and regulatory compliance in an acute care hospital setting.
  • 3+ years of proficiency with computer keyboarding and data entry.
  • Experience with electronic health records.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Required)

  • Competency with Excel.
  • Keyboarding and data entry skills.
  • Customer service and problem-solving skills.
  • Heightened attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of regulatory record review, documentation assessment, and HIM quality processes.
  • Ability to analyze documentation trends, data concerns, vendor performance, and compliance metrics.

Preferred Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare or a related field.

Experience

  • Experience with HIM quality auditing, vendor SLA monitoring, and Epic workflow optimization preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Preferred)

  • Epic experience.
  • OnBase experience.
  • Experience with facility-specific regulatory reporting and documentation compliance monitoring.

Exposures may include, but are not limited to: blood-borne pathogens, bio-hazardous waste, chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors, communicable diseases, electrical shock, floor surfaces, hot/cold temperatures, indoor/outdoor conditions, latex, lighting, patient care/handling injuries, radiation, and shift work. Use of personal protective equipment may be required depending on work area and tasks.
