Summary:

Performs complex medical records functions requiring higher-level decision-making. Assists in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the medical record; assists with assuring timeliness and accuracy in the various Health Information Department sections; assists with monitoring compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC) standards, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) requirements and RPCCC policies related to documentation processing and document retention as well as New York State regulations related to Health Information Management (HIM); assists with requirements for regulatory surveys; assists with major initiatives involving the HIM Department; assists in implementation of record retention policy; processes disability insurance claims; ensures accurate and timely completion of patient long term and short term disability insurance forms; ensures accurate and timely completion of continuing care and patient release of information requests. May perform the duties of a Medical Records Associate I and/or Medical Records Associate II. The starting pay for this position is $22.79/hour which includes a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience

  1. Associate’s degree in an Health Information Management program; or
  2. Associate’s degree in a health-related field and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time Health Information Management experience with knowledge of medical terminology; or
  3. Associate’s degree and the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time Health Information experience with knowledge of medical terminology; or
  4. High School diploma or High School Equivalency diploma and the equivalent of three (3) years of full-time Roswell Park Clinical/Administrative health care experience; or
  5. High School diploma or High School Equivalency diploma and the equivalent of four (4) years of full-time clinical or administrative health care experience.

NOTE:

Degrees must be conferred by an accredited school, college, or university, or by an institution recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and/or Health Research Incorporated as adhering to acceptable educational standards.
