Join our Wellness Support Team (WST), a pioneering primary mental health service delivering integrated care to high-needs communities across Auckland. With over 90 team members, we are continuing to grow to meet increasing demand for wellbeing support in our GP clinics.

About the Role

This is a fixed-term position, based at Local Doctors Dannemore (East Auckland).

Health Coaches are based within GP clinics, working alongside GPs, nurses, and the wider primary care team to support patients as part of their everyday care.

Working Hours: 32 hours per week

As a Health Coach, you will:

  • Provide brief, targeted health coaching to individuals and whānau
  • Support patients to manage long-term conditions and improve overall wellbeing
  • Promote healthy lifestyle changes as part of routine GP care
  • Build strong relationships within your clinic team
  • Work closely with Health Improvement Practitioners (HIPs) and a wider multidisciplinary team
  • Receive full training, including ongoing supervision and mentoring

What You’ll Bring

  • Lived experience of managing long-term conditions and wellbeing (personally or within your whānau)
  • Experience supporting whaiora in a health or wellbeing setting
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A genuine passion for improving patient wellbeing
  • Cultural and/or linguistic diversity
  • Confidence using computers and a willingness to learn new systems
  • Interest in holistic, evidence-based approaches to care
  • Ability (or enthusiasm) to support group wellbeing programmes
  • A minimum of secondary school qualification

Experience in a healthcare setting or a relevant qualification is advantageous but not essential.
