Job Description

La Cabana Beach Resort & Casino is seeking a reliable, customer-focused Health Club Supervisor to join our Recreation team. The Health Club Supervisor will ensure smooth daily operations of the fitness facility, deliver excellent member service, supervise staff, and maintain safe, clean, and inviting workout spaces. This is a hands-on supervisory role ideal for someone with strong communication skills, a passion for fitness, and proven experience leading small teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide friendly, professional customer service to members and guests; welcome arrivals, answer inquiries, and resolve concerns promptly.

  • Supervise, train, schedule, and mentor fitness attendants, front-desk staff, and contract instructors to deliver consistent, high-quality service.

  • Ensure the health club, locker rooms, and equipment are clean, well-maintained, and stocked with necessary supplies; coordinate repairs and preventive maintenance with Engineering.

  • Monitor safety and enforce facility rules and policies; respond to incidents and emergencies following established procedures and complete accurate incident reports.

  • Conduct equipment inspections and minor troubleshooting; escalate technical issues and track work orders.

  • Support program delivery by assisting with class schedules, member sign-ups, and promoting fitness initiatives and special events.

  • Manage daily opening and closing procedures, cash handling, reconciliation, and basic administrative tasks.

  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and inventory logs; communicate with other departments to ensure seamless guest experiences.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a fitness facility, recreation center, or health club environment; prior supervisory experience preferred.

  • Excellent customer service, communication, and leadership skills.

  • Knowledge of fitness equipment, basic maintenance needs, and health and safety standards.

  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain upon hire.

  • Able to work a flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.

  • Comfortable handling cash and using common point-of-sale and reservation systems.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform light physical tasks related to facility upkeep.

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or fitness-related certifications are an asset.

  • Languages: English required (reading and writing); additional language skills such as Spanish, Dutch, or Papiamento are considered an asset.
