Your Specific Responsibilities:
This position is a leadership role serving as the Program Manager for the School Health Program at the Department of Health in Collier County (DOH-Collier) and reports directly to the Health Medical Executive Director. This position spends most of the time engaged in supervisory responsibilities. This includes communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees in addition to planning and directing employees' work. The incumbent has the authority to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, or discipline subordinate employees or effectively recommend such action. The incumbent will also be required to develop performance expectations, meet with staff regularly to discuss performance, complete performance reviews, maintain vacation and work schedules, ensuring proper coverage, and complete timesheets. This position is specifically responsible for the direct supervision of The School Health program. This person also serves as a liaison with all other departments and community partners to assure that all programmatic requirements are completed and goal are met. This position is responsible for supervisory duties including, but not limited to, hiring and selection, developing performance plans, conducting performance appraisals, planning, and directing work, approving leave, and taking disciplinary action as appropriate. Contributes to the organization’s culture of performance excellence by actively seeking to improve personal and organizational performance through measurement, analysis, knowledge management, and processes improvements and participation in performance management committees, councils, and/or workgroups. Program Management
This position is responsible for the planning, directing and organization of the School Health program. Includes collaboration with community partners within School Health. Manages staff within the assigned areas of responsibility. This includes supervisory duties including, but not limited to, hiring and selection, developing performance plans, conducting performance appraisals, planning, and directing work assignments, approving leave, and other personnel management action as appropriate. Prepares budget for the school health program. Monitors budget and contracts deliverables throughout the year. Keeps business manager and Nursing Director informed as to any increased expenditures that would not be within designated school health budget. Develops, implements, and maintains appropriate budgetary controls, monitors activities, initiates timely and effective corrective actions. Stays withing budget and makes appropriate budgetary recommendations. Responsible for monitoring applicable contracts for compliance.
Day-to-day operations in School Health
Functions as the liaison between the Florida Department of Health in Collier County staff and the Collier County Public School staff to accomplish requirements of school health services. This includes but is not limited to:
Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement
Responsible for Quality Improvement (QI) and Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) requirements within FPH. Reviews and updates of all nursing care policies and procedures in accordance with Florida law and related nursing practice standards. Assists Executive Community Health Nursing Director to assure staff are working on quality improvement projects, following DOH values, assisting with Strategic Planning, PHAB Accreditation Standards and Sterling Business Excellence Model. Participates in performance improvement program for quality control and enhancement for client centered clinical services. Contributes to the organization’s culture of performance excellence by actively seeking to improve personal and organizational performance through measurement, analysis, knowledge management, and processes improvements and participation in performance management committees, councils, and/or workgroups. Continuously demonstrates the Department’s ICARE values.
Administrative/Other
Responsible for communicating with and motivating nursing personnel, clients, and populations in the community. This position is responsible for securing information sets for the purpose of protecting confidentiality, data integrity, and appropriate access for all information, both confidential and public record, which is stored in hard copy or electronic format. This position will interpret and facilitate department policy for the Division of Family and Personal Health and other nursing policies throughout the CHD. Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates procedures, policies and protocols for community health nursing practice and community health programs assuring compliance with local policies and all related state and federal programmatic requirements, rules, and regulations. Other duties as assigned. This position is at risk for exposure to blood borne pathogens. Performs other duties as assigned including but not limited to:
