The Health Care Reimbursement Analyst I provides financial counseling, reimbursement support, and eligibility assistance to patients seeking healthcare coverage and financial assistance. This position conducts patient interviews, evaluates eligibility for Medicaid and other assistance programs, assists with application completion, performs follow-up activities, and coordinates with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate timely coverage determinations. The role supports revenue cycle operations by helping patients secure appropriate coverage, reducing financial barriers to care, and maximizing reimbursement opportunities while maintaining compliance with applicable regulations and organizational policies.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Interview patients to obtain demographic, financial, insurance, and household information necessary to determine eligibility for Medicaid, financial assistance, and other reimbursement programs.
  • Screen and evaluate patients for Medicaid, Marketplace, charity care, and other governmental or community assistance programs.
  • Assist patients in completing and submitting Medicaid, financial assistance, and insurance applications while ensuring all required documentation is obtained.
  • Monitor pending Medicaid applications and perform follow-up activities with patients, state agencies, managed care organizations, and community partners to facilitate timely determinations.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

  1. Any one or combination totaling three (3) years (36 months) from the categories below:
    1. Bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting, business administration, management, or finance.
    2. Progressively more responsible work experience that provided a knowledge of generally accepted principles, theories, and practices in healthcare/medical billing.
  2. One (1) year (12 months) of professional experience in third-party reimbursement for health care facilities (such as an accountant or auditor).
