Job Description

Position Summary
The Health & Safety Field Advisor is responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe work environment on-site. This role works closely with project teams, supervisors, and workers to ensure compliance with company and site-specific policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. The Advisor plays a key role in hazard identification, incident prevention, and fostering a strong safety culture across the project. This position will be for our Trillium Project, located on 100 Queensway West, Mississauga, Ontario. Contract Hourly (18-24 months).

Position Functions
• Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and hazard assessments to ensure compliance with health and safety standards
• Monitor daily site activities to ensure safe work practices are being followed
• Provide guidance and support to supervisors and workers on safety procedures and requirements
• Lead and participate in toolbox talks and safety meetings
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and hazards; prepare detailed reports and recommend corrective actions
• Ensures all required safety documentation, permits, and records are completed and maintained accurately
• Ensure all required personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn correctly and consistently by all personnel on site, in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements
• Support the development and implementation of site-specific safety plans and procedures
• Promote a proactive safety culture by encouraging employee engagement and accountability
• Assist in return-to-work and modified duties programs as needed

Working Conditions
• Primarily based on an active construction/project site
• Exposure to outdoor elements and varying weather conditions
• Required to wear appropriate PPE at all times on site
• May require occasional extended hours based on project needs

Preferred Qualifications
• Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a health and safety role, preferably in construction or industrial environments
• Strong knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation and regulations
• Valid First Aid/CPR certification
• National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation considered an asset
• WHMIS certification and Working at Heights training required
• Experience conducting incident investigations and safety audits
