Job Description

The Opportunity

One day you could be walking a water treatment plant with a site leader. The next, you could be with a network crew checking how a high pressure jetting job is planned.

As Veolia’s Health & Safety Advisor, you’ll spend a majority of your time in the field. You’ll work with water treatment teams in Ballarat and Bendigo and network services crews based in Dandenong who carry out CCTV pipe inspections, pipe relining and high pressure water jetting.

You’ll get to know the crews, see how the work is done and help teams put safer ways of working into practice.

What's on offer

  • Car allowance, fuel card and eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus.
  • Choose Ballarat or Bendigo as your base, with travel across all three locations.
  • Varied work across treatment plants and network services, with opportunities to build your experience in both.
  • Support from an established team and Veolia’s national health and safety network.

What You'll Do

  • Walk sites with crews and leaders to spot hazards, check controls and plan work safely.
  • Coach teams through toolbox talks, risk assessments and safe work procedures.
  • Conduct inspections and audits, then work with site leaders to resolve findings.
  • Facilitate incident investigations using ICAM and help teams act on what they learn.
  • Keep site safety plans up to date and help teams introduce new equipment safely.
  • Spot recurring risks across sites and give operational leaders clear advice on what to address.

What You'll Need

  • A formal health and safety qualification, or substantial experience in a comparable operational safety role.
  • Practical experience applying safety systems, conducting risk assessments and interpreting relevant WHS legislation.
  • Experience conducting workplace inspections, audits and incident investigations, with ICAM training or equivalent investigation experience highly regarded.
  • Working knowledge of Chain of Responsibility, or the ability to quickly develop this knowledge.

Why Veolia?

You’ll help protect the people who keep essential water services running.

You’ll also have access to benefits including paid parental and volunteering leave, Fitness Passport, discounted health insurance, an employee share plan and confidential support for you and your family through Thrive, our Employee Assistance Program. Benefits are subject to eligibility.

We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds. If you need adjustments during recruitment, please let us know.

Ready to work alongside crews and make a practical difference to safety? Apply now.
