Your Mission
You will provide visionary leadership and technical excellence across CARE’s health and nutrition portfolio—ensuring quality, innovation, and gender-transformative programming from design to delivery.
You will:
Set the strategic direction for health and nutrition programming in Sudan
Lead high-impact programme design and resource mobilisation efforts
Champion evidence-based, adaptive programming in complex humanitarian contexts
Drive technical excellence and quality assurance across all projects
Represent CARE at the highest levels with donors, UN agencies, government, and partners
What You Will Do
Strategic Leadership & Innovation
Develop and evolve CARE Sudan’s Health & Nutrition Strategy
Institutionalize gender-transformative approaches across all interventions
Promote integrated programming across health, nutrition, WASH, protection, and livelihoods
Leverage data, research, and learning to continuously improve program impact
Programme Quality & Technical Excellence
Lead design of high-quality, evidence-based projects
Ensure alignment with global standards (WHO, SPHERE, UNICEF) and national policies
Drive innovation in community-based programming, SBCC, and digital solutions
Strengthen referral systems, service delivery, and supply chains
Monitoring, Learning & Accountability
Build a strong culture of data-driven decision-making
Oversee assessments, surveys, and programme evaluations
Ensure compliance with donor requirements and safeguarding standards
Produce high-quality reports and strategic insights
Partnerships & Advocacy
Represent CARE in national and global coordination forums
Influence policy, partnerships, and sectoral priorities
Build alliances with Ministries of Health, UN agencies, NGOs, and donors
Fundraising & Growth
Lead the development of competitive proposals and concept notes
Cultivate strong relationships with institutional donors and partners
Expand CARE’s health and nutrition portfolio through strategic resource mobilisation
Emergency Response Leadership
Lead rapid scale-up during crises, outbreaks, and displacement emergencies
Provide field-level technical support and real-time problem solving
Team Leadership & Capacity Building
Mentor and coach multidisciplinary teams across Sudan
Strengthen staff and partner capacity through training and technical guidance
Foster a high-performing, inclusive, and purpose-driven team culture
