Head Veterinary Nurse (Full Time) - Greencross Vets Ellenbrook

Greencross Vets Ellenbrook is looking for a full-time Head Nurse to lead our nursing team in a busy, well-established clinic with a genuinely supportive and positive culture.

Get a feel for our team and clinic here

This is an opportunity to step into a leadership role where you’ll be backed by a close-knit team, loyal clients, and a wider WA network that works together, shares knowledge, and supports one another.

About our clinic

Ellenbrook is one of our newer, purpose-built clinics and is co-located with Petbarn, providing a convenient and seamless experience for clients.

Our clinic features:

  • Three spacious consult rooms
  • A dedicated surgical theatre
  • Separate dog ward
  • Digital X-ray and ultrasound
  • Full in-house laboratory
  • Thoughtful, fear-free design elements

We are a busy clinic with a steady and growing client base. Our puppy preschool brings plenty of new faces through the doors each week, and we’ve built strong, long-term relationships with many of our clients.

What really stands out is the team. It’s a friendly, supportive group that works closely together and doesn’t take itself too seriously. The clinic has a genuinely happy feel, where people enjoy coming to work, help each other out, and share a laugh during the day.

The WA network

One of the benefits of joining Greencross in Western Australia is the strong sense of connection across clinics. Teams regularly collaborate, share knowledge, and support each other when needed. It’s a network where people know each other, not just a group of separate clinics.

About the role

As Head Nurse, you will take a hands-on leadership role, supporting both the clinical team and day-to-day operations.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading, mentoring, and developing the nursing team
  • Creating a positive and cohesive team environment
  • Managing workflow in a busy clinical setting
  • Supporting veterinarians with surgical and medical cases
  • Performing general nursing duties including patient care, anaesthesia, pathology, and emergency support
  • Contributing to the ongoing improvement of clinic processes and efficiency
  • Communicating professionally with clients across all touchpoints

This is a role where you’ll have real influence on team culture, clinical standards, and how the clinic continues to grow.

About you

You will bring:

  • Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing
  • At least 3 years of clinical experience
  • Previous experience mentoring or leading nurses
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Confidence working in a busy environment
  • A supportive, team-first leadership style
  • A proactive and reliable approach
  • Experience with RxWorks (desirable)

Why Ellenbrook

Ellenbrook offers a great balance of lifestyle and accessibility. It’s a growing, family-friendly area with parks, walking trails, local cafes, and a strong community feel. You’re within easy reach of the Swan Valley, Perth Hills, and the CBD, giving you a mix of outdoor lifestyle and city convenience.

Why Greencross

You’ll be supported with opportunities to grow your career and maintain balance:

  • Ongoing continuing education and access to training programs
  • Annual Greencross conference with clinical and leadership streams
  • Career progression opportunities across a national network
  • Access to a broad network of vets and nurses
  • Staff discounts on veterinary services and products, including Royal Canin
  • Petbarn retail discounts
  • Access to Fitness Passport
  • Access to Pounce (discounts across retail, travel, fuel and more)
  • Mental health and wellbeing support programs, including confidential counselling
  • A genuine focus on work/life balance

Apply

If you’re ready to take the next step into a leadership role within a supportive team and connected WA network, we’d love to hear from you.
