Full-Time Position
Our partner, Grupo Vidanta, the leading developer and operator of world-class vacation destinations, luxury resort hotel brands, golf courses, theme parks, and spectacular entertainment centers in Mexico and Latin America, is currently offering career opportunities in Nuevo Nayarit-Vallarta for its second Cirque du Soleil resident show to include a dining experience as part of the performance.

Reporting operationally to the Artistic Director, and under the governance of the Manager of Human Performance Services – Performance Medicine, the Head Therapist will be responsible for:
General:
- Respect all arrangements and agreements made between Grupo Vidanta and other medical authorities and institutions in an ethical and professional manner, putting the artist as first priority in your professional decision making;
- Ensure that all the department's daily operational needs are being met at the highest possible standard of professionalism, care and ethics;
- Adhere to the direction of, and timely communication with the show Artistic Direction, the operations management team and Manager of Human Performance Services;
- Adhere to, promote and contribute to optimal safety guidelines and processes within the artists’ working and performance environment;
- Create and foster interdependent relationships with the members of the artistic and coaching teams;
- Foster a positive, stimulating and ethical working environment for the PMed Department staff while being responsible for the guidance and supervision of their functioning and professional growth and development;
- Promptly convey all pertinent medical information to the management team and Cirque du Soleil while actively participating in periodic meetings and reporting;
- Comply with all Grupo Vidanta Performance Medicine governance standards and audit requirements;
- Actively participate in continuing professional development opportunities, to remain an expert and leader in Medical, Therapy and team approaches
Clinical/Operational
- Ensure that all medical care, prevention, rehabilitation, and health care administration is being delivered to the highest possible standard of care and confidentiality, while relevant to the functional demand of artists and environment
- Lead and ensure that the environment’s emergency response preparedness in relation to the artists is at the highest possible state of readiness and well documented with clear written Emergency Action Plans – this requires regular close interactions with members of the emergency support team, and routine practice of scenarios with each of those involved;
- Achieve and maintain an appropriate First aid and Trauma Management Certificate, to work as first responder and incident lead for training and in-show cover;
- Ensure that, in time of necessity, emergency response and critical care is being delivered in a safe and professional manner, to the highest possible standards;
- Stimulate and foster close functional relationships with Coaches and other Artistic team members to establish and implement programs directed at the reduction of injury to achieve optimal performance, relevant to an artists’ specific needs;
- Make recommendations for referrals, when appropriate, for medical conditions (psychological and nutritional), and generate referrals to appropriate medical providers.
- Collaborate with the Coaching Team to create moments of exchange for feedback and problem-solving regarding strength and conditioning, reintegration planning, and performance support.
- Establish and actively participate in regular artist performance planning meetings with Coaches and Artistic Director;
- Ensure that all medical information, interactions and interventions are being documented and communicated as per Grupo Vidanta’s specific requirements and completion of necessary legal/insurance documents, while making sure artist-therapist confidentiality is being adhered to at all times;
- Ensure that artists are accompanied to medical appointments whenever indicated;
- Actively participate in medical consultations where appropriate.
- Ensure that all onsite/offsite activities (PR events) have proper medical coverage
- Collaborate with artistic team to ensure clear communication regarding recommendations for artist functional restrictions;
- Maintain a direct link with the show’s appropriate representative regarding insurance and worker's compensation needs; ensuring all necessary information, forms and reports are communicated and delivered in a timely and organized manner.
- Be the responsible specialist on medical matters for your show/environment and make clear decisions over suitability to participate in training or show based on these, considering and mitigating the risk to the artist and business of any recommended modifications. These recommendations should be made to the Coach and Artistic Director who will conclude any modification strategy.
Management
- Perform all relevant tasks inherent to the position of Head Therapist of PMed in a professional, ethical manner and at the highest possible standard of care, in alignment with your professional licensure or Grupo Vidanta Standard, whichever is higher;
- Coordinate the day-to-day operations of the PMed department which, among other tasks, include: staff scheduling, maintenance of supplies while ensuring that the workspace is properly and professionally organized and maintained at all times;
- Manage, mentor and support the professional growth of your PMed Therapist.
- Participate with the show’s Artistic Direction in the evaluation of PMed Therapist staff as well as the establishment of their performance objectives;
- Manage, and work within the constraints of, established relevant PMed budgets and manage ordering for specific projects in relation to the PMed Department's needs;
- Lead communication with the Artistic Team regarding injury timelines to allow show to determine necessity for temporary replacements and provide recommendations for external care when appropriate.
- Identify show specific injury trends for potential analysis;
- Identify opportunities and create strategies to implement targeted injury prevention approaches based on injury trends within your show, and deliver these projects.
- Manage and maintain a network of appropriate external medical specialists, and continually ensure these resources are sufficiently qualified to meet the show community's requirements;
YOUR UNIQUE EXPERTISE
- University-degree and valid license in Athletic Therapy or Athletic Training or Physical Therapy or Physiotherapy (Master’s degree preferred);
- Valid CPR/AED certification (additional Emergency Sports First Responder or EMT courses preferred);
- Minimum 6 years relevant clinical experience (on-field/event coverage preferred);
- Actively engage in ongoing professional learning and development with emphasis on manual therapy techniques, exercise progression, and emergency care;
- Experience managing/leading staff or teams;
- Experience working with high-caliber athletes;
- Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment;
- Ability to quickly adapt to unexpected situations and work with a variable schedule while working under pressure;
- Ability to work and communicate with medical professionals;
- Good computer skills;
- Strong organizational, management, and leadership skills;
- Fluency in English (Spanish an asset);
- Availability to work full time in Mexico.
