The McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center is situated on the campus of William & Mary. This award-winning facility boasts six indoor, climate-controlled courts and experienced USPTA/PTR instructors who are ready to help take your game to the next level. Programs are offered from junior tennis to adult leagues and private lessons.
The McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center is a division of The Office of Auxiliary Services who provides a variety of products and services that support and enhance campus life for students, faculty and staff, alumni, and guests of the university. The Office is committed to fostering an environment that promotes the diversity of creativity, excellence, thought, culture, and educational opportunities throughout the auxiliary enterprise at William & Mary.
The Head Tennis Professional will oversee all on-court programming and lessons. They will work closely with the Associate Director to ensure the highest standards are met for all instructional programs. The Head Tennis Professional will create lesson plans for all clinics. The position ensures that all professional staff are properly trained and will focus on optimizing revenue for lessons and programming. The position is also charged with teaching private and group lessons for a minimum of 25 hours per week. The Head Professional reports to the associate director of the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center.
Specific areas of responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Teaching private and group lessons, developing lessons that are skill appropriate, and further the development of the player.
• In partnership with the Associate Director, market the Tennis Center and promote the growth of the Tennis Center by driving profitable group events and effectively managing the Center for the use of MNTC members, William and Mary students and the intercollegiate tennis teams. (Currently have over 600 active members).
• Ensure that all clinics and programs are well always staffed and provide supervisory oversight to coaching staff.
• Mentor all professional coaching staff and promote continuing education.
• The Head Professional will be the Tournament Director for all sanctioned and unsanctioned tournaments. MNTC hosts approximately 15-18 tournaments yearly ranging from L7(Beginner) – L3 (National Level).
• Responsibilities will include but are not limited to tournament application, draw creation, player selection, securing a USTA official, staffing and managing the tournament desk at all events.
• The Head Tennis Professional will be responsible for all aspects of the summer camp programs.
This includes ensuring that all WM Compliance regulations are followed, camp registrations, staffing, and lessons planning.Contribute to the Development of the annual budget. Work closely with Associate Director to enhance program offerings to maximize revenues while focusing on member satisfaction.
