As part of Jefferson County’s Head Start department, the Head Start Site Aideis responsible forproviding flexible classroom, kitchen, and operational support across Jefferson County Head Start sites to ensure continuity of services, safe learning environments, and smooth daily operations. This position supports daily staffing coverage needs across five program sites andassistswith classroom routines, food service support, site cleanliness, inventory support, and operational readiness. Works closely with teaching, operations, and kitchen staff to support children, families, and program services.

SCHEDULE:

This position is a temporary, non-benefited position that will be scheduled to work approximately 30 hours/week, up to 130 hours per month, Monday through Friday between the hours of730am and430pm.

COMPENSATION:

Hiring Range: $19.89– $2000 USD Hourly 

Compensation will bedeterminedbased on education, experience, and skills.

BENEFITS:

This is a temporary, non-benefit position. Employeesare able toearn 1 hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to 48 hours.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Support classroom coverage needs across five Jefferson County Head Start sites based on daily staffing and operational needs, including receiving day-of assignments and adjusting to changing priorities.

  • Assistteachers in creating andmaintainingnurturing relationships with children and families while ensuring licensing requirements and active supervision practices are met.

  • Assistchildren in following classroom routines and provide support for teacher breaks, child restroom needs, meal support, and short-term classroom coverage as needed.

  • Support kitchen operations, including meal preparation support, food service, meal delivery, sanitation practices, and kitchen clean-up in alignment with food safety procedures and program requirements.

  • Assistwith receiving, organizing, stocking, and putting away inventory and supplies at assigned sites.

  • Maintain the cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of classrooms, shared spaces, kitchens, storage areas, bathrooms, and site environments.

  • Support operational needs and daily site readiness, including responding to emergent support needs and helpingmaintainsafe, organized, clean, and welcoming environments.

  • Work effectively in fast-paced environments requiring movement between classrooms, kitchens, outdoor spaces, and operational support functions whilemaintainingsafety, organization, and responsiveness.

  • Maintain flexibility and adaptability in supporting varying site conditions, coverage needs, and program priorities as directed by the Center Operations Supervisor.

  • Attend andparticipatein required staff meetings, trainings, and events, as needed.

  • Adhere to all Head Start policies, procedures, performance standards, and any applicable local, state, and federal requirements.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Knowledge,Skillsand Abilities:

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus but notrequired

  • Experience working in early childhood, food service, custodial, operational support, or related environments preferred.

  • Ability to meet physical demands of the position, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, and moving supplies and materials throughout the workday.

  • Being a reliable team player who is flexible/adaptable. 

  • Basic math skills.

  • Excellent customer service skills. 

  • Passionate about the education of young children.

ADDITIONAL JOB INFORMATION:

  • Experience and comfort working in dynamic environments that include classroom support, kitchen support, and operational duties across multiple sites.

  • Must have a personal vehicle that can be usedto travel between five program sites (three in Lakewood, one in Arvada, and one in Wheat Ridge) based on daily coverage needs.Mileage will be reimbursed using theIRSstandardmileage reimbursement rate.

  • Must have trainingon:universal precautions, the Child and Adult Care Food Program, and food safety certification within the first 30 days of hire. 

  • Must obtain physical examination and tuberculosis test at hire. 

  • Must be able to carry/lift loads greater than 35 pounds and transport up to 50 pounds on occasion. 100% of time spent standing and walking. 

  • The physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodations for this positioninclude:Standing/walking for entire shift,frequentlycarrying/lifting loads greater than 35 pounds, and occasionally transporting up to 50 pounds. This position is temporary (summers off), with the possibility of renewal each school year.
