Early Head Start - Comprehensive Area Specialist

100% Onsite - Location: Los Angeles, CA 90056

What We're Looking For:

We are seeking a Comprehensive Area Specialist who coordinates, delivers, stays current on regulatory requirements, and ensures high quality services to programs serving infants and toddlers under the EHS grant. Assists with the coordination of training and professional development to Child Development Specialists, family home providers, and parents to increase the capacity and strengthen practices that enhance the comprehensive services areas: (health, nutrition, mental health, and disabilities) to support the growth and development of infants and toddlers (birth to 5 years of age) served by providers. In addition, the EHS Comprehensive Areas Specialist is responsible for working with external healthcare partners and school districts to secure on-going access for providers for the children being served in their family child care home program.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for reviewing eligibility for program participation according to current Head Start performance standards.
  • Supports Child Development Specialists and each family in the goal setting process leading to a family partnership agreement and provides for collaborative planning to help to create healthy families.
  • The Comprehensive Area Specialist is knowledgeable about community resources and links families through referrals with services that meet their unique circumstances.
  • Maintains confidentiality and trusting relationships that are culturally responsive.
  • Implements a monitoring methodology that will ensure that the assigned sites will meet their overall eligibility, recruitment, selection, enrollment and attendance services goals and requirements

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES YOU SHOULD POSSESS

  • AA in Early Childhood Education, Human Development or related field required.
  • BA in Early Childhood Education, Social Work, Human Development, Health or related field is preferred.
  • Must have one (1) or more years of experience in working with children and families.
  • Must have a working knowledge of various computer programs including Microsoft Word, and Excel. Excellent computer skills required.
  • Experience in statistical analysis and working with social services or related community activities preferred.
  • Individual must be able to travel from location to location without difficulties.

Special Requirements

  • Must have reliable transportation and possess a valid California Driver License in good standing with DMV required; current liability insurance
  • Must meet State health requirements to include passing a physical examination as condition of employment, Live Scan, and TB clearance.
