This position will oversee sites in both San Diego and Orange County.
Community Action Partnership of San Luis Obispo County (CAPSLO) is seeking a dynamic and compassionate Area Manager to lead early childhood education programs across assigned counties. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional passionate about empowering low-income and migrant families through high-quality, multicultural services. You’ll oversee Head Start, Early Head Start, State Child Development, and Migrant and Seasonal Head Start programs—ensuring compliance, fostering staff development, and building strong community partnerships.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or a closely related field
• 6 semester units in Administration and 2 in Adult Supervision
• Minimum five years of preschool teaching experience, including two years of staff supervision
• Child Development Site Supervisor Permit required; must obtain Program Director Permit within six months of employment
• Strong knowledge of bilingual/multicultural education, child development, and federal/state regulations
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
• Depending on the department assigned, a valid California driver’s license, a current DMV driving record, and proof of insurance may be required to fulfill job-related travel. Reasonable accommodations will be considered in accordance with applicable laws.
As the Area Manager you will:
• Supervise and support center staff, ensuring compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and licensing regulations
• Collaborate with program directors and coordinators across health, nutrition, education, and social services
• Lead staff training, onboarding, and professional development initiatives
• Monitor program quality through site visits, data systems, and community assessments
• Engage with parents and policy councils to promote advocacy and inclusive decision-making
• Oversee budgets, audits, and fiscal reporting in coordination with accounting teams
• Cultivate partnerships with local agencies and institutions to enhance service delivery
• Support facility management, licensing, and continuous improvement efforts
