Main responsibilities:
- Leadership & Site Safety: Oversee all aspects of site safety, including risk assessments, mitigation planning, safety training programs and compliance with corporate and legal standards. Lead local HSE emergency response, HSE crisis management activities and HSE operational activities at the Goa site including site security operations.
- HSE Systems Management: Build and maintain the site’s HSE management system to ensure full compliance with Sanofi requirements & processes, adoption and adherence to Sanofi Digital Core model.
- HSE Event Management Capture all HSE events, ensure full investigations and mitigations, reporting (injuries, pollution, PSE etc.) and prevention of any recurring events.
- HSE Governance Framework: Establish and maintain a robust HSE governance framework across the site.
- Continuous Improvement :Define and drive the site's HSE continuous improvement plan, aligned with site-specific risks and the global HSE roadmap. Lead regular HSE management reviews at site level and with senior management and global HSE teams.
- HSE Culture Champion: Lead and promote a proactive HSE culture through targeted training, education, and engagement programs for employees and contractors. Provide in-depth HSE knowledge, expertise, coaching to all the employees and contractors at the site in order to integrate HSE as a key performance lever
- Compliance, Audits & External Representation: Ensure the site’s compliance to all relevant HSE and security regulations and standards (state and central). Act as the primary HSE contact for regulatory authorities and statutory/certification bodies. Participate in inspections and audits as required
- People Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of HSE professionals, providing guidance, support, and growth opportunities. Identify and develop HSE champions across the site.Drive effective workforce planning and succession management within the HSE function.
- Site Security: Oversee the Security team, plan and deploy site security governance, including organization, processes, systems, threat assessments, risk identification for the protection of people, assets, and products at the site.
Qualification & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or pharmacy, or a master’s degree in science
- Certification or Diploma in Industrial Safety, preferably from a State Technical Board
- Minimum 12 years of experience in the HSE domain within the Pharma, FMCG, or Manufacturing industry
- Proven track record in team development, stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration
- Experience in cross-functional roles (e.g., Production, Operational Excellence, Engineering, Security) is an added advantage
Technical Skills·
- Strong knowledge of HSE management systems, regulatory frameworks, matrix management and project management·
- Advanced proficiency in Occupational Hygiene, Safety, Environmental Management, Product Stewardship and Security·
- Expert knowledge of hazardous waste management, environmental compliance, applicable legal rules, CPCB/SPCB guidelines, HAZOP methodologies, and risk management.
- Knowledge of OSHA requirements would be an added advantage. ·
- Good understanding of emerging technologies and digital/data analytics tools
