We’re looking for a People Coordinator to join our busy and supportive People Team at our Ward Security HQ. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with previous administration, HR, recruitment or business support experience who wants to develop their knowledge and build a long-term career within the People profession.

This is much more than an administrative role. You’ll gain hands-on exposure to a wide range of People activities, working alongside experienced People professionals and supporting colleagues and managers across the business.

Location: Chatham Dockyard, Kent

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Salary: £27,000 per annum

What will you be doing?

As a People Coordinator, you’ll play an important role in keeping the People function running smoothly and providing a professional and responsive service to employees, managers and external stakeholders.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing the People inbox, ensuring enquiries are acknowledged, prioritised and responded to or escalated within agreed timescales.
• Providing day-to-day administrative support across the People Team, including correspondence, documentation, records and general coordination.
• Coordinating meetings, diaries, meeting packs, notes and supporting documentation.
• Producing reports, presentations and management information, ensuring People data is accurate and well maintained.
• Supporting onboarding, employee changes and leaver administration.
• Building positive working relationships with colleagues, managers and members of the wider People Team.

You’ll have the opportunity to develop valuable experience supporting a variety of Employee Relations activities, including:

• Disciplinary, grievance, capability, probation and absence processes.
• Consultation and organisational change activity.
• Preparing letters, case documentation, trackers and supporting materials.
• Coordinating hearings, meetings and consultations.
• Supporting redundancy and TUPE administration.
• Assisting with external legal processes through accurate administration and document preparation.

What are we looking for?

You’ll need:

• Previous administration experience, ideally within People, HR, recruitment or a business support environment.
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• A professional, approachable and customer-focused manner.
• Confidence using Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams.
• The ability to manage confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
• A proactive and collaborative approach.
• A genuine willingness to learn and develop a career within the People profession.

It would be great if you also have:

• Previous experience within a People or HR environment.
• An awareness of Employee Relations processes, employment legislation, TUPE or Employee Liability Information.
• Experience using Dayforce or another HR information system.
• An interest in People technology, reporting, automation or AI.
• A CIPD Level 3 qualification, or a willingness to work towards one.
