About the Role
- The Head of Strategic Value Realization is responsible for driving the successful execution and value delivery of strategic investments across the enterprise. This role ensures that strategic investments are aligned with corporate priorities, monitored effectively, and deliver measurable impact.
- The incumbent will partner with the business to support business case development, prioritisation, approval process and ongoing performance tracking.
- As an end-to-end owner of strategic project process, VRO team will continue to develop and enforce relevant frameworks, processes, and governance models to enable fast and robust decision-making supporting initiative owners in achieving outcomes.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Strategic Advisory
Serve as a strategic advisor to the relevant EXCO & owner, ensuring that SPSC projects are grounded in strong strategic rationale and are subject to rigorous strategic challenge. Ensure initiatives are aligned with strategic levers by setting impactful KPIs and validating that business cases contribute material value to the organization.
Value Framework Development
Design and implement a value framework based on strategic levers identified in the strategy plan. Embed the framework into business case development to ensure alignment with strategic priorities.
Strategic Project Prioritization
Lead the strategic project prioritization process, reviewing assumptions, timelines, and strategic impact to ensure alignment with the overall strategic plan.
Portfolio Oversight & Value Realization
Monitor the strategic project portfolio to ensure timely delivery and realization of expected valueDesign, establish, and continuously enhance data-driven frameworks and dashboards for monitoring. Identify gaps and opportunities to inform senior management and formulate tactical and strategic planning.
Strategic Partnership and Alignment
Act as a partner to drive meaningful change and value delivery. Provide targeted interventions where necessary to address gaps. Align key business stakeholders, including relevant ExCo sponsors, on required actions, resources, and capabilities to achieve initiative outcomes.
Risk-Based Governance
Collaborate with the Risk and Finance teams to implement a risk-based approach to project governance. Ensure that high-risk cases receive thorough review, while enabling expedited processing for lower-risk and smaller-scale initiatives.
Process Innovation
Lead the simplification and optimization of the SPSC business case process by removing unnecessary steps and streamlining governance. Drive the development of fit-for-purpose processes that support faster investment decisions, particularly in AI-enabled transformation initiatives.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s or equivalent degree required; Master’s preferred
10+years demonstrated experience in corp. or BU strategy /transformations, financial services industry; Manager title or equivalent
Strong problem-solving to identify roadblocks, support initiative ideation and development, and provide actionable recommendations
Outstanding analytical skills to synthesize large amounts of information and distill key takeaways or themes
Excellent communication skills to convey key messages in a succinct manner to a senior executive audience
Effective project and stakeholder management to provide the deliverables or reach the milestones needed to drive projects to completion
Comfort with ambiguity and ability to deliver results based on known information and a logical approach
