Global Markets is part of our HSBC Corporate and Institutional Banking division, a markets-led, financing-focused business that provides investment and financial solutions. We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Head of Transactional FX, Asia Pacific.

Role Purpose

Lead the Transactional FX Asia team and work with the global Transactional FX (TFX) team to effectively execute the growth strategy in Transactional FX in APAC and Globally within Global FX Services. Driving volume, profitability and strategy awareness through client acquisition, marketing, and relationship management (internal & external) efforts.

  • Solution specialist for TFX related interaction: interface with and be the TFX subject matter expert to key product stakeholders within Corporate & Institutional Banking, Commercial Banking, Global Payments Solutions (GPS) and Global Trade Services (GTS) to drive product awareness and build a healthy client pipeline
  • Lead or Assist with the design and implementation of the architectural landscape in APAC
  • Lead the team with on-boarding efforts for mandated Transactional FX opportunities.

TFX

HSBC’s Transactional FX business offers overarching FX solutions for cross border payables & receivables by seamlessly combining FX and Payments products leveraging technology. TFX focuses on the risk management and processing of flows with high volume of low value transactions. The role holder will ensure the HSBC values are present in everything we do, both individually and as an organization.

Key Accountabilities

Origination and Client Onboarding:

  • Team lead and Product owner for Transactional FX in Asia.
  • Help to define and provide input to the regional sales strategy for Transactional FX in the region
  • Drive internal stakeholder product awareness of TFX solutions to generate internally lead client acquisition
  • Work with existing Global Payments Services & Markets Sales teams, originate new TFX client relationships and increase market share with the Coverage team
  • Help to achieve increased wallet share and client satisfaction for existing TFX client relationships
  • Coordinate with global counterparts to ensure strategy is synergised and effectively executed
  • Ensure delivery of a cohesive, market leading service to clients providing feedback to TFX product development
  • Promote an entrepreneurial, client lead approach within stakeholder groups

Internal Collaboration and Solution Delivery:

  • Lead strategic projects and initiatives across Asia
  • Perform product gap analysis, and contribute to global product development roadmap
  • Work with Head of Global FX Services and TFX Product Owner to prioritise initiatives and deliveries for Asia
  • Conduct teach-ins and raise awareness of TFX solutions across Asia and within global TFX team

Operational Effectiveness & Control

  • Help to drive a sound, regional ‘go to market’ strategy for the client facing Transactional FX proposition
  • Establishes procedures and takes ownership to eliminate or mitigate operational risk
  • Promote Transactional FX strategy awareness – specifically around the importance of centralisation
  • Manages client queries and concerns in a timely, effective manner
  • Eliminates operational losses
  • Effective management of the sales pipeline
  • Delivers clear, comprehensive plan for managing issues

Key Performance Indicators and Targets

  • Grow TFX revenue across Asia
  • Profitability of Transactional FX
  • Number of new active clients
  • Growth with existing clients
  • Demonstrate effective collaboration within and outside the business promoting cross sell
  • Initiate and/or deliver strategic projects including internal and external ecosystems
  • Address clients’ needs and bridge infrastructural gaps in Asia through efficient and scalable solution design
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other stakeholders

Desired Skills:

  • Ability to lead individuals in a matrix organization across locations.
  • Comfortable in a start-up environment, pragmatic, proactive, entrepreneurial
  • Experience with FX, Payments, APIs and related technology
  • Experience within a multi-stakeholder, multi-buying group sales environment
  • Track record of effectively selling and implementing enterprise solutions front to back
  • Proactive thinker, problem solver, with the ability to create apt solutions.
  • High level of self-motivation and team player with the ability to perform in a high-pressure environment with limited supervision.
  • Effective stakeholder management and collaboration across businesses
  • Some understanding of local and global regulatory environment

Management of Risk

Responsible for the continual assessment of operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructuring and the impact of new technology.

Demonstrates compliance with HSBC Bank plc Group standards, manuals and policies and adheres to the defined work practices, internal controls and risk management standards associated with the role.

Observation of Internal Controls

Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including the timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.

Understands, follows and demonstrates compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business activities associated with the role, specifically HSBC Bank plc internal controls and compliance policies and manuals.
