Job Description

The Head of Technology Services, Japan is a critical leadership role responsible for delivering secure, reliable, and high-performing technology services that support Manulife's customers, employees, distributors, and business partners across Japan. This role provides the opportunity to shape the technology services strategy and operational excellence agenda for one of Manulife's key markets while collaborating with regional and global technology leaders. As the senior Technology Services leader in Japan, you will drive service innovation, operational resilience, infrastructure modernization, and technology transformation initiatives that directly contribute to our mission of making decisions easier and lives better. In return, you will gain exposure to enterprise-scale technologies, executive leadership engagement, and the opportunity to influence both local and global technology strategy.

Position Responsibilities

  • Lead the overall delivery, governance, and continuous improvement of Technology Services across Japan, ensuring secure, reliable, and efficient operations.
  • Serve as the primary technology services advisor to Japan business leadership and represent Japan within regional and global Technology Services forums.
  • Oversee local technology operations, including workplace technology, end-user services, local networks, office technology, and infrastructure services.
  • Partner with regional and global teams to deliver cloud, cybersecurity, network, and enterprise technology services aligned with business needs.
  • Ensure effective management of service operations, incident response, change management, technology risk, regulatory compliance, vendor performance, budgets, and technology transformation initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in technology infrastructure, IT operations, or technology services leadership roles, including people management responsibilities.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience managing enterprise technology services, infrastructure operations, networks, cloud platforms, or end-user computing within a large organization.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Business-fluent Japanese (JLPT N2 or above preferred) and strong English communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior business and technology stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading technology operations within the insurance, banking, financial services, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Strong knowledge of IT Service Management (ITIL), operational resilience, business continuity, and disaster recovery practices.
  • Experience managing large-scale infrastructure modernization, cloud transformation, or workplace technology initiatives.
  • Proven success managing external technology vendors, service providers, and strategic partnerships.
  • Relevant professional certifications such as ITIL, PMP, PRINCE2, AWS, Azure, CISSP, or equivalent.

Internal Guidelines about Work from Home:

Hybrid Model, following Manulife’s Working Better guidelines.

Over time:

0-40 hours/month.

Salary

Based on our Work Rules, we will consider your experience, skills and knowledge when we decide the salary.

Commutation allowance and Variable Incentive Bonus are paid based on our Work Rules.

Working Hours:

Standard Working Hours: 9:00am - 5:00pm (Include 1 hour break. Flex-time system available)
