Legl is building the operating system for modern legal services.
We help law firms and regulated businesses replace manual, fragmented workflows with intelligent software from client onboarding and compliance to payments, risk, and reporting.
Legal work is high-stake - it’s regulated, complex, and deeply impactful - and our mission is to help regulated firms grow faster, run their businesses more profitably, manage risk intelligently, and deliver great client experiences
We’re backed by leading European VCs, scaling quickly, partnered with over 600 law firms including 50 of the UK’s top 200, launched in the UK and Australia - and entering our next phase of growth.
AI is the central-operating model: not a tool or a future plan - but assumed in the way we operate.
Decisions live with people: you're trusted to make calls and own them.
Think deeply, execute quickly: speed and rigour, not speed or rigour.
We’re searching fo r a hands-on Head of Technology Operations at Legl - you’ll be building the knowledge, semantic and data foundation layers that the whole business runs on whilst translating business problems into working technical & AI solutions - whilst leading a small team of data, IT operations and business operations to deliver :
Own the way we operationalize AI and technology to meet business outcomes. Understanding the needs of different functions (Sales, Customer Success, Marketing, Launch, Product, Support, etc) to translate business goals and problems into a clear strategy across tooling, data and enablement. This role will execute against these goals and enable measurably more productive teams.
Develop our data strategy and get hands on with our data. We have an amazing (small) data team. Help us prioritise, build the right infrastructure and work across our business functions to make sure data serves the whole business.
Ensure our non-technical teams know how to leverage themselves most effectively. We’re rolling out a lot of internal know-how, AI and tools, and we want our teams to make the most of them. .
Own responsible & sensible governance. Define the guardrails - usage policies, access, data handling, and security controls - that let people use AI and data confidently and safely.
Support and manage a team of expert ICs. Provide hands-on guidance, problem solving, line management and career development paths for IT operations and data and business analysts.
You’ll be trusted to make decisions and expected to stand behind them.
You're commercial and technical at once - you can make and defend an investment or build-versus-buy call, and hold your own in a conversation about data architecture. You're trusted by leadership and engineers alike.
You're a builder who ships and lands things - you've taken work from problem definition to idea to build to adopted, and you spike on prioritisation, coordination, and getting things over the line.
You're genuinely hands-on with a data / technical background - you understand the modern stack (warehousing, transformation, semantic layers, governance) well enough to challenge it, even if you no longer build it day to day.
You're excellent at internal GTM and change management - you translate technical work for non-technical audiences, manage stakeholders across functions like sales, customer and operations teams, and drive adoption by demonstrating value rather than mandating it.
You're fluent in AI as a working tool - you use it daily, know where it creates real leverage versus noise, and have moved organisations from experimentation to measurable impact, not just pilots.
You're a credible leader of specialists - you earn the trust of strong, experienced people quickly, and you'll challenge senior stakeholders constructively when the data or the economics don't support the enthusiasm.
You want a purely technical research or hands-on ML/data-engineering role.
You're a pure strategist who delegates technical judgement.
You need an established playbook and a defined remit, or you'd rather maintain a function than build one.
You see technology and AI as a communications exercise rather than a measurable capability, or you're uncomfortable making investment calls, challenging senior colleagues, and being held to outcomes.
