Job Description

At Endress+Hauser, progress happens by working together. As the global leader in measurement instrumentation, with over 18,000 employees, we shape the future in the field of process automation. Whether developing and realizing new technology as a team, collaborating to build instrumentation, or strengthening vital relationships with countless global industries, we work to create trusted relationships that help everyone thrive. As a family-owned company, we look beyond short-term moves and work to create a vision that is forward-thinking for our people, our clients, and the world at large.

We are looking for a Head of Technology (Industrial IoT & AI) to join Endress+Hauser Digital Solutions and shape the technology direction for connected products, digital services and artificial intelligence. Based in Reinach, Switzerland, Endress+Hauser Digital Solutions is our Product Center for the Industrial Internet of Things—where 200 innovators collaborate in 12 agile squads, backed by over 200 IIoT patents and an ISO 27001-certified commitment to security—to deliver cutting-edge hardware, software, and cloud services that unlock the full potential of process-industry data.

What is the role about?

Are you excited by the opportunity to shape technology strategy across connected products, digital services and AI? Do you enjoy turning complex technology landscapes into clear architectures, priorities and roadmaps? Can you bring together technical leaders and engineering teams across products, platforms and locations to create scalable solutions?

As Head of Technology, you will provide the technology direction that connects cloud services, locally deployed software, connected devices, industrial communication, data and AI capabilities into a coherent and secure technology system. Working across organizational and geographic boundaries, you will combine technical leadership with customer orientation and commercial awareness to help Digital Solutions grow sustainably and deliver reliable digital solutions for the process industry.

Which tasks will you perform?

You will:

  • Define and maintain a multi-year technology strategy for Industrial IoT and AI, translating it into clear roadmaps covering cloud, edge, connected devices, industrial communication, data and AI capabilities.
  • Establish target architectures, technology principles and decision guidance that enable products, platforms and deployment models to work together consistently and evolve sustainably.
  • Align technology roadmaps, dependencies, investment priorities and lifecycle decisions across products and development locations, making key trade-offs and capacity constraints transparent to decision-makers.
  • Lead the responsible adoption of AI and automation across software development and product improvement, establishing appropriate governance, human oversight, quality controls and protection of confidential information and intellectual property.
  • Provide direction to technical leaders, architects and engineering teams, while developing technical capabilities through coaching, communities of practice and effective governance.
  • Promote reuse, standardization, automation and continuous improvement to increase delivery speed and engineering effectiveness without compromising security, quality or compliance.

What do we expect from you?

You:

  • Bring substantial experience in technology leadership, software architecture, platform development, engineering enablement or a comparable role within a complex software environment.
  • Have demonstrated experience providing technology direction across multiple teams, products or organizational units and influencing stakeholders across organizational boundaries.
  • Have a strong understanding of distributed systems, cloud-native architecture, edge and hybrid deployment, industrial connectivity, data architectures, identity, observability, resilience and security-by-design.
  • Are experienced in translating technology strategy into executable roadmaps and aligning stakeholders around shared priorities, dependencies and investment decisions.
  • Have a practical understanding of AI-assisted software development, including human oversight, traceability, quality assurance, security and responsible governance of AI tools.
  • Are able to balance technical judgment with customer orientation, commercial awareness and long-term lifecycle thinking, while managing portfolio-level dependencies, capacity constraints and strategic trade-offs.
  • Communicate confidently and facilitate effectively in an international environment.
  • Professional English is required; additional languages are an advantage.

What can you expect from us?

  • A dynamic and innovative work environment at the forefront of digital transformation.
  • A flexible and family-friendly work culture that supports work-life balance.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package, including health and wellness programs.
  • The security and prospects of an international, family-owned company that supports sustainability and diversity and has a long-term vision.
  • We promote lifelong learning and provide opportunities to develop your expertise, share knowledge and grow professionally.
  • You will work in an international environment where collaboration across teams, products and locations is central to how we develop technology.
  • You will have the opportunity to influence our technology direction and help build the capabilities, standards and ways of working that support sustainable growth.
