Job Description

Gasfin is where engineering meets impact. Since 2009, we’ve been building and managing world-class LNG infrastructure projects across the globe—from the drawing board to real-world delivery. Our clients include governments, energy companies, and infrastructure operators, all working toward the same goal: secure, stable, and sustainable energy.

This is a pivotal role for a mid-career professional ready to take the helm in marine operations for LNG infrastructure. As a Marine Operations Expert, you’ll be at the forefront of floating marine asset deployment—think FSRUs, mooring systems, and offshore logistics. You’ll work closely with vessel operators, port authorities, and engineering teams to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations.
If you thrive in dynamic environments, enjoy solving complex logistical challenges, and want to make a real impact on energy infrastructure, this role is for you.

Tasks

  • Provide senior-level oversight and ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient technical operation of LNG FSRU terminals in daily business.
  • Act as the primary technical authority and decision-maker in the absence of the Managing Director.
  • Exercise strategic technical governance over regasification systems, cryogenic storage, boil-off gas handling, and pipeline feed-in processes.
  • Offer expert-level guidance and escalation support to terminal operations teams and engineering functions.
  • Coordinate with internal departments (Commercial, Terminal Management, HSE) and external stakeholders (authorities, suppliers, class societies) at a leadership interface level.
  • Ensure full compliance with applicable European and national regulations, codes, and industry standards relevant to LNG import terminals.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance technical performance, asset integrity, energy efficiency, and safety culture.
  • Lead complex troubleshooting and root-cause analyses for critical equipment and process issues requiring senior engineering judgment
  • Review, assess, and approve CAPEX/OPEX proposals, engineering modifications, and technical upgrades with budgetary accountability
  • Support emergency response, incident handling, and contingency planning as a senior technical authority
  • Interface with grid operators and regulatory stakeholders at a strategic technical level regarding requirements for gas network integration.

Requirements

  • Mandatory: Minimum 10 years of professional experience within the LNG industry in senior project management or technical operations roles.
  • Mandatory: Comprehensive understanding of the entire LNG value chain, from liquefaction and shipping logistics to storage, regasification, and gas grid feed-in.
  • Proven track record in technical leadership positions (e.g., Lead Engineer, Engineering Manager, Chief Engineer, Technical Superintendent).
  • Detailed understanding of regasification systems, cryogenic processes, boil-off gas management, and associated marine systems at an expert level
  • Strong knowledge of relevant European/German regulatory frameworks, safety codes, classification requirements, and permit processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to make autonomous, high-impact technical decisions under time pressure in mission-critical environments.
  • Expertise in asset integrity management, reliability engineering, maintenance strategies, and HSE management frameworks.
  • Experience interfacing with regulatory authorities, classification societies, engineering contractors, and utility/grid operators.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at senior management and operational levels.
  • Fluent English (written and spoken); German language skills are a significant advantage

About Gasfin

Founded in 2009 by LNG industry executives, Gasfin advises, develops and operates LNG infrastructure projects in the mid-scale segment – modular or end-to-end, cost-efficient and rapidly deployable.

Driven by technical excellence, agile structures and a solution-agnostic-approach we deliver future-compatible solutions – designed to meet today’s needs and enable tomorrow’s energy transition.

Since 2022, Gasfin has acted as lead consultant and On-Site Operations Manager for Deutsche Energy Terminal GmbH (DET) the terminal operator established by the German government to safeguard energy security in Germany and Europe at times when this is no longer guaranteed or reliable.

What drives us:

We believe that secure, stable and affordable access to energy is fundamental to global progress, social stability and quality of life. This conviction is deeply personal to us. Two of our partners grew up in regions where electricity was a rare and unreliable resource – in the Bahamas and Zimbabwe, power outages, supply gaps and excessive energy costs were part of daily life.

These early experiences shape our entrepreneurial mission until today: focussing on mid-scale LNG infrastructure solutions that are modular and scalable, future-compatible and highly adaptive to energy market shifts all around the world. We don’t just prepare for today’s challenges – we help build tomorrow’s energy systems.

What we stand for:

Safety: Operational integrity and compliance are non-negotiable

Pragmatism: We solve problems with expertise, focus, speed, and flexibility

Partnership: We work transparently at eye level, for shared success

Sustainability: We build infrastructure that matters today and adapts for tomorrow

What Makes Us Unique:

• One-stop-shop or modular delivery model

• Deep LNG expertise and operational reliability

• Lean structures, quick decisions, agile mindset

• Future-ready and solution-agnostic solutions
