HSBC is one of the world’s largest banking and financial services organisations, operating in 64 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is—helping businesses thrive, economies prosper, and people achieve their ambitions.

We’re looking for an experienced professional to join us as Head of Tax (GCB 4) in Korea, leading the Tax function across two legal entities: SEL (banking) and SLS (securities)

In a fast-changing tax environment, you’ll lead Korea Tax compliance, reporting, tax accounting, audits, and—most importantly—tax risk management. • Build strong relationships with industry bodies and the wider tax community
  • Lead, coach, and develop the local Tax team; raise tax awareness across the business
  • Maintain and update Tax procedure manuals, aligned to Tax FIM and global standards
  • Run ongoing monitoring and periodic reviews to confirm controls remain effective

[Knowledge and Experience]

  • Bachelor’s degree (or above) in Tax, Accounting, or Finance
  • 10+ years’ experience in tax/accounting (financial services or CPA firm preferred)
  • Strong expertise in Korean tax
  • Professional qualification such as KICPA (required)
  • Strong communication and influencing skills; confident working with senior stakeholders
  • Proven people leadership experience
  • Fluent in Korean and English (written and spoken)
