Head of Systems Engineering Robotics

Your area of responsibility
As the Head of Systems Engineering Robotics, you lead the systems engineering team for robotics in Zurich, Sachseln and Barcelona. You work in close alignment with the robotics leadership team, product management, and business development.

You manage and grow core competencies in systems engineering: requirements management, system architecture definition and testing as well as the supporting capabilities of application engineering and customer support. Your objective is to lead and scale this high-performing team, contributing significantly to the growth of maxon's systems business in the field of modern robotics. You ensure consistent and high-quality engineering work across your organization.

Together with your team, you provide technical expertise and take the systems engineering lead for developing drive system solutions for modern robotics. You establish best-in-class development practices and ensure compatibility with maxon's global development processes. You foster a strong, collaborative engineering culture that attracts and retains top talent.

Acting as the technical and organizational interface to maxon's component development teams, you ensure close coordination between system level requirements and component level execution.
This role reports to the Head of Corporate Center Systems. It offers the opportunity to shape the technical direction of maxon's robotics systems business at a pivotal moment of growth.

• Lead and develop an international systems engineering team for robotics across Zurich, Sachseln, and Barcelona.
• Build and grow competencies in robotics, with a focus on drive systems for modern robotics applications.
• Own the systems engineering aspects for robotic drive system solutions.
• Act as the systems engineering lead for robotics, serving as the interface between component development centers, business units, product management, sales, and production.
• Build and maintain a network of partnerships with research institutions and suppliers.
• Shape the technology and product roadmap for robotic drive systems.
• Support key robotics customers and represent their requirements within the maxon group.

This job is exactly right for you if...

• have a degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics.
• enjoy building and scaling teams, and love operating at the interface of technology, business, and people
• bring several years of professional experience developing mechatronic solutions and have experience leading projects and/or development teams, experience in robotics is a clear plus
• bring a strong customer focus and enjoy turning customer needs into robust, user-oriented system solutions.
• are willing to travel internationally (approx. 10%).
• communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, in German and English (B2/C1 level).
• are willing to work primarily in Zurich and Sachseln with periodic visits to Barcelona.
