Head of Structured Trade, Global Transaction Banking, Asia PacificCountry: Hong Kong

The Head of Structured Trade, Asia Pacific, is responsible for driving the growth and delivery of structured trade finance solutions to corporate clients across the region. This role leads the origination, structuring, and execution of complex trade transactions, including export prepayments, borrowing base facilities, and inventory financing.

The incumbent will work closely with Corporate Sales, Coverage Bankers, and global product teams to deliver end-to-end client solutions, while also contributing to product innovation and platform development.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Strategy

  • Establish and lead a high-performing Structured Trade Finance team with clear quantitative and qualitative objectives.

  • Define and execute regional strategy to grow the structured trade business across Asia Pacific.

Origination & Execution

  • Lead the full transaction lifecycle, including client pitching, deal origination, structuring, execution, and implementation.

  • Develop high-quality client presentations and prepare credit applications.

  • Negotiate legal documentation and ensure transactions meet profitability and risk-return criteria.

Business Development

  • Drive commercial activity by actively managing the deal pipeline and identifying new opportunities.

  • Conduct in-depth working capital analysis to understand client needs and propose tailored financing solutions.

Stakeholder Management

  • Collaborate with Coverage teams, Global Product teams, Risk, Legal, Middle Office, and Operations to ensure seamless deal execution and delivery.

  • Maintain strong client relationships to ensure high levels of satisfaction and repeat business.

Product Development & Innovation

  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of structured trade products and frameworks.

  • Provide input on infrastructure, processes, and systems required to support business growth.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in structured trade finance within international banks, including at least 2 years in a leadership role with regional exposure.

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification preferred.

  • Strong expertise in commodities financing with an established industry network.

  • Proven ability in working capital analysis and structuring solutions aligned with client commercial activities and risk appetite.

  • Excellent communication skills and strong pitching capability, with fluency in English, and Mandarin is a plus.
