Thread Recruitment is proud to support Straightcurve in finding its Head of Strategy & Global Expansion. You’ll work alongside the founder as a strategic partner, own the group’s commercial performance, and turn ambitious ideas into clear decisions and results.

Straightcurve is a design-led landscape products business already selling in seven countries. Its products are proven, and its automated systems are designed to scale.

Now it’s looking to strengthen the markets it’s already in and build the ones that come next, starting with the USA.

What You’ll Be Doing

This is strategy with its sleeves rolled up. You’ll work closely with Straightcurve’s founder to decide what deserves attention and turn the right opportunities into plans the team can deliver.

You’ll integrate the work across sales, operations, marketing and international markets. Strong leaders run each area independently; you’ll set direction with them, connect their work and keep the business moving in the same direction.

What that looks like in practice:

• Owning the group P&L and overseeing cash flow across the business
• Building the commercial case and action plan for new ideas, including the numbers, risks, people and practical steps needed to deliver
• Leading Straightcurve’s expansion into the USA
• Growing the UK business
• Scaling Australia, the engine of the business, while improving its profitability
• Spotting and validating the next market opportunity
• Deciding what to pursue now and what can wait, so the business stays focused
• Building the systems and structure that let each market run itself

The role is remote, but it isn’t hands-off. Expect to travel across Australia and overseas a few times a year, spending time on the ground with the people and the work that make Straightcurve run.

Who You Are

You’re a builder with a numbers brain. You’ve owned a P&L, you can read a balance sheet, and you’ve taken something from an idea to a trading business. You’d rather get on the ground and understand a market than theorise about it from a boardroom.

You’re calm under pressure and restless for what’s next. A good idea gets you moving; the numbers keep you honest. You challenge with evidence rather than ego, see the risks and find a way around them, and bring a team-first mindset to everything you do.

You’ll bring:

• Fluency with P&Ls, balance sheets, budgets and cash flow
• Proof you’ve built or scaled something: a business, a market or a team
• A systems mind: you see how the pieces connect and build structure that lasts
• The ability to lead strong, independent people without micromanaging them
• Comfort with ambiguity, backed by the judgement to know when to push and when to pause
• Curiosity about the world, and a drive to always find ways to make things better
• Permanent Australian work rights
