Role Context:

  • Finance Sustainability and Group External Communication (FS&GEC) within HSBC Group aspires to be a leading international finance team, leading with integrity and providing trusted insights. The FS&GEC function brings together four distinct specialisms to strengthen connectivity in how we engage and manage relationships with key stakeholders across HSBC:
    Global Finance (Reporting, Controllership, Treasury and Stewardship) provides internal and external reporting, forecasting, and oversight of financial controls.
  • Sustainability leads the Bank’s work to support sustainable growth.
  • Group External Communications delivers communication strategies that support HSBC’s strategic objectives, protect our reputation, and build trust with stakeholders.
  • Group Chief Control Oversight Office (GCCOO) establishes and maintains frameworks across the Bank to manage risk and ensure compliance.
  • We are currently seeking a high-calibre professional in Global Service Centre (GSC), India to join our department as Head of Strategy Execution, Group Chief Control Oversight Office (GCCOO).

Principal Responsibilities:

  • As Head of Strategy Execution, Group Chief Control Oversight Office (GCCOO), you’ll be responsible for operational execution, business administration, and delivery oversight for GCCOO within FS&GEC.
    Drive cost discipline and delivery of cost and FTE targets across GCCOO, including delivery of Group and GCCOO savings initiatives.
  • Lead business planning and performance cadence for GCCOO, including forecasting, the annual FRP process, and improving transparency and consistency of recharges and allocations.
  • Define and execute the location strategy for GCCOO, aligned to the workforce plan and operating model, to optimise capacity, capability and resilience.
  • Define and drive execution of the GCCOO organisational strategy, goals and objectives, aligned to FS&GEC priorities.
  • Drive continuous improvement across GCCOO to strengthen control, simplify ways of working, and enhance the operating model and systems platform.
  • Deliver strategic initiatives with global impact, leveraging innovative technology, data and tools, and ensuring disciplined execution.
  • Lead the People and Communications agenda to strengthen engagement, accelerate development, and build an energised, diverse and increasingly skilled workforce (including workforce planning, D&I, skills, learning and development, succession/talent, and survey actions).
  • Build strong partnerships with senior stakeholders and collaborate with the wider Controls function, Assurance and Internal Audit to drive global alignment and contribute to wider priorities and the Book of Work.

Requirements:

  • Leadership – experience leading a team/function in a large bank or similarly sized organisation.
  • Communication skills – ability to define and communicate a compelling vision and a clear approach to a wide and diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Relationship management and influencing skills – proven ability to communicate effectively and confidently at all levels.
  • Change execution – track record of delivering complex change in a global and cross-functional context.
  • Strategic mindset – ability to set direction, make strategic decisions and allocate resources accordingly to support implementation of the plan.
  • Financial experience – strong understanding of cost management, forecasting and budgeting processes.
  • Strong analytical and structuring skills, with the ability to identify and articulate complex problems and solutions.
  • Resourcefulness and creativity – ability to work with others, solve problems and challenge the status quo.
  • High level of drive, motivation and personal resilience.
