Context

Under the overall oversight of the Director General, the Private Sector Partnerships Division (PSP), situated within the Department of Strategy and External Engagement, leads IOM’s engagement with the private sector. PSP develops and maintains strategic partnerships that support IOM’s priorities, positioning the private sector as a key stakeholder in addressing migration challenges and opportunities through innovative and impactful collaborations.

PSP is responsible for leading strategic outreach and engagement with private sector actors, as well as providing guidance and support to IOM Headquarters, Regional Offices, and Country Offices in establishing and managing partnerships. It develops and implements IOM’s Private Sector Strategy, which defines the framework for engaging the private sector in support of safe, orderly, and regular migration.

In addition, PSP oversees the private sector partnerships due diligence process, ensures responsible and ethical engagement, and strengthens staff capacity in partnership-building across the organization. The Division also manages high-visibility engagement initiatives, including the Goodwill Ambassador programme and celebrity engagement.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  1. Lead and coordinate the development and enhancement of processes, tools, and guidance to support private sector engagement within the Private Sector Partnerships (PSP) Division, including knowledge management resources, internal capacity-building materials, visibility guidance, and monitoring and reporting practices for private sector partnerships.
  2. Provide technical advice and coordination support to the Head of PSP on strategic planning and performance monitoring related to private sector engagement initiatives.
  3. Coordinate cross-unit collaboration and planning across PSP’s key lines of business—including Partnerships, the Islamic Philanthropy Fund, Migration, Business and Human Rights, Individual Giving, and the Goodwill Ambassador Programme—to ensure alignment of priorities, workplans, and reporting.
  4. Lead the coordination of the annual planning process for PSP, including consolidation of priorities, workplans, and performance indicators, and support periodic reviews of progress to strengthen private sector engagement.
  5. Oversee the preparation and dissemination of internal PSP knowledge products, including newsletters, webinars, micromodules, staff updates, and periodic reports (quarterly, mid-year, and annual), ensuring consistency, clarity, and alignment with organizational priorities.
  6. Coordinate partner stewardship and visibility initiatives, in collaboration with the Department of Media and Communications (DMC) and relevant units, including partner communications plans, website updates, and visibility opportunities related to PSP key lines of business.
  7. Coordinate PSP’s contributions to the private sector engagement components of key institutional events and forums, including the World Economic Forum (WEF), United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Strategic Coordination and Planning Forum (SCPF), and IOM Council, including preparation of event materials, briefings, presentations, talking points, and background documentation.
  8. Coordinate monitoring and reporting on PSP performance indicators and partnership results, supporting evidence-based decision-making and internal reporting on private sector engagement outcomes.
  9. Represent the Unit in internal coordination meetings, providing updates on ongoing initiatives, progress against workplans, and emerging challenges related to private sector engagement.
  10. Supervise and guide Unit members, including setting work objectives, monitoring performance, and fostering a collaborative and results-oriented team environment.
  11. Perform other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • Master's degree in Business, Law, International Development, International Relations, Migration Studies, Communications or a related field with seven years of relevant work experience; or,

  • University degree in the above fields with nine years of relevant professional experience.

Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

Experience

  • Minimum seven years of relevant, responsible, and progressive experience with an international organization, with a particular focus on private sector fundraising;

  • Proven experience in stakeholder engagement and management; and,

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate diverse teams in a fast-paced environment.

Skills

  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills; and,

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders and build consensus.

Languages

All IOM staff members in all categories are required to be fluent in one of the IOM's official languages (English, French, Spanish).

For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written).

Working knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is an advantage.

Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
