Job Description

As a Senior Corporate Strategist on our Corporate Strategy team, you’ll advance innovative, industry-leading diagnostic, software and technology solutions for pets, people and livestock. You’ll execute strategies and help make critical decisions surrounding three impactful pillars:

  • Executive-level communications: The Senior Corporate Strategist will work with senior leadership across the organization to coordinate our strategic planning process and lead enterprise projects. Robust, top-down communication will be essential to the role and your skillset in driving multi-stakeholder projects will be a key driver of the impact you can have.
  • Structured thinking and organization: The Corporate Strategy group, and this role in particular, must take a structured approach to managing process, working closely with teams in different lines of business on key topics, and delivering comprehensive strategies.
  • Data-driven and context-enabled analysis: You’ll work hand-in-hand with the team’s Advanced Analytics group to develop key data for strategy work. You’ll also work alongside our Competitive Insights Lead to contextualize market opportunities.

Location: You’ll need to be within a reasonable driving distance to Westbrook, Maine. This is a hybrid or on-site position, with the expectation that you'll be at our Westbrook headquarters at least 2-3 days a week.

The work you’ll lead:

In this role, you’ll advance priority enterprise strategic focus areas:

  • You’ll drive high-priority strategic projects, including adjacent market assessments, and cross-functional initiatives aimed at delivering business growth
  • You’ll co-lead the enterprise strategic planning process with the Head of Strategy, Corporate Development, and Advanced Analytics
  • You’ll partner with colleagues across functions and teams, including those in Competitive Intelligence, Advanced Analytics, and Corporate Development, to develop insight-rich strategic assessments and/or proprietary assets
  • You’ll maintain and update key annual market analyses, as well as frame and execute creative discrete market analyses, including customer, competitor, supplier, and distributor analyses
  • You’ll develop rigorous statistical analyses and financial models to estimate market sizing opportunities (e.g. adjacencies, expansion)
  • You’ll translate market insights into actionable recommendations for senior leadership, supporting strategic planning, product development, pricing strategies, and market expansion efforts
  • You’ll assist in developing content and materials for Board presentations

What you need to succeed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, economics, or related field; MBA or advanced degree required, if less than 3 years of job experience in consulting or investment banking
  • 3-5+ years experience working in a consulting or investment banking firm preferred
  • Direct experience in corporate strategy, strategic planning, management consulting, or related roles, preferably in healthcare (ex: pharmaceuticals or medical products) or software
  • Experience distilling complex data into actionable insights and strategic recommendations
  • Executive facilitation and influencing skills, with the ability to effectively present findings and recommendations to senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders; exceptional written and verbal communication skills are important
  • Ability to structure problems, create digestible frameworks, and distill complex problems into a linear narrative
  • Critical thinking, including ability to anticipate market trends and identify opportunities for business growth and differentiation
  • Adaptability to changing market dynamics and ability to evolve thinking
  • Financial acumen and ability to develop market models and executive-level strategic assessments; deep familiarity with PPT and Excel is a minimum requirement
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple deliverables
