Are you an experienced snowsports professional who enjoys leading people, solving operational challenges and working in a fast-paced alpine environment?
We’re looking for a Head of Slopes Operations at Coronet Peak to lead our Snowmaking, Grooming and Terrain Park teams through the winter season.
This is a hands-on leadership role, responsible for maximizing snowmaking and grooming operations, developing our seasonal teams, maintaining high safety standards and ensuring we deliver a consistently high-quality mountain product.
About the Role:
Snowmaking
• Take overall responsibility for Coronet Peak’s snowmaking system and operational efficiency.
• Lead, train and develop the seasonal Snowmaking Team.
• Operate and troubleshoot our TechnoAlpin system, including automated and manual fan guns and lances.
• Work closely with Maintenance and key contractors, including TechnoAlpin and Ski Industries.
Grooming & Terrain Park
• Lead the day-to-day operations of our predominantly night-based Grooming Team.
• Ensure the safe and effective operation of our snow groomer fleet.
• Plan and allocate resources to maximize available terrain and grooming quality.
• Oversee the safe construction and maintenance of Terrain Park features.
• Lead, train and develop the seasonal Terrain Park Team.
Summer Projects
• Coordinate and lead summer terrain and mountain development works.
• Work with Mountain SAMs, Maintenance and other stakeholders to prioritise and budget projects.
• Manage project scheduling, resources, contractors, budgets and reporting.
Leadership & Operations
• Lead, mentor and develop Snowmaking, Grooming and Terrain Park teams.
• Identify training needs and implement effective training plans.
• Monitor and report on departmental performance.
• Communicate regularly with senior leaders and work collaboratively across departments.
• Promote strong Health & Safety and sustainability practices.
• Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, systems and the overall mountain experience.
About you:
• 3+ years’ experience in the snowsports industry, particularly snowmaking and/or grooming.
• Previous leadership experience in a snowsports, alpine or similar operational environment.
• Strong snowmaking knowledge, including pumping systems, fault-finding and troubleshooting.
• Experience with TechnoAlpin equipment.
• Snow groomer operation experience; winching knowledge is advantageous.
• Experience with ATASS and/or Kässbohrer SNOWsat is advantageous.
• Strong Health & Safety knowledge relating to people, plant and machinery.
• Project management and contractor management experience.
• Strong organisational, communication and IT skills, particularly MS Excel and MS Project.
• A composed, confident and approachable leadership style.
• A genuine desire to contribute to the wider ski area leadership team.
• Flexibility to work evenings and nights when required.
Further Information:
• We are preferably looking for a permanent 12-month employee but would consider contracts of a shorter term for the right individual (8 month minimum)
