Job Description

Reporting directly to the UK Marine Director, the Head of Security Control holds primary accountability for the protection of people, assets, infrastructure, and sensitive information across all UK and Ireland operations. You will lead the integration of security clearance and critical infrastructure protection into business planning, ensuring full regulatory compliance with legal and industry frameworks.
As the primary point of contact for national security and the key interface between government agencies, you will be the driving force behind our security culture. This is a "boots-on-the-ground" role where you will be responsible for the governance of personnel security, leading the end-to-end administration, auditing, and processing of complex security clearances (BPSS, SC, and DV). With a track record in executing strategies to mitigate risks across demanding environments, you will work closely with senior leadership to ensure we consistently meet and exceed rigorous government vetting and compliance standards.

This is a hybrid role based at our Rugby, UK office 3 days a week.

What you will do

Regulatory Compliance: Maintain full compliance with the UK Security Policy Framework (SPF), JSP, and IPSA requirements. This includes the management, storage, and auditing of classified documentation.

Personnel Security: Lead the administration and auditing of personnel

security vetting, including the processing of BPSS, SC, and DV clearances.

Stakeholder Liaison Function as the primary site authority for security

matters, managing enquiries from government agencies and customers to ensure all legislative requirements are adhered to.

Operational Security Advice: Provide counsel to the UK Marine Director

ensuring security protocols are integrated into operational business processes.

Team Leadership Manage a small team providing guidance to ensure

consistent operational standards and delivery.

Security Culture: Oversee the delivery of security education and awareness training to staff to maintain a compliant, security-conscious work environment.

What you will bring

Professional background: Proven experience as a Head of Security Control or equivalent within UK Defence, Aerospace, MOD, or Government contracting environments.

Technical Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of UK Government

security standards (JSP, SPF) and the processes governing personnel security vetting (BPSS, SC, DV).

Communication: Ability to communicate complex regulatory requirements clearly and professionally to internal and external stakeholders.

Professional Conduct: Ability to manage sensitive information with integrity, discretion, and composure under pressure.

Security & Vetting: UK Eyes only—must hold Sole British Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain SC-level national security vetting. As this role supports critical infrastructure government projects, all candidates will be subject to rigorous background checks and suitability assessments.
