Job Description

OFFICE OF THE DEAN OF CREATIVE ARTS

The School of Creative Arts (SCA) is comprised of three well-established academic units: the Academy of Film, the Academy of Music, and the Academy of Visual Arts. Established on July 1, 2022, SCA is dedicated to nurturing future-ready talents for Hong Kong and beyond, while making a significant impact on society through innovative research and transdisciplinary studies.

Head of School Administration (25260077)

Serving as a senior member of the School, the appointee will play a versatile role in supporting the Dean of School of Creative Arts by overseeing the office and delivering a wide range of administrative services to advance the School’s development. Key responsibilities include:

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Dean in working closely with Associate Deans and Academy Directors to align standards and review process for the School and Academy KPIs, as well as cultivate strong partnerships with academic and administrative professionals to advance institutional goals;
  • Provide overall leadership and oversight of administrative functions and services within the School to ensure good governance, including:
    • Programme management
    • Research administration
    • Budgeting and finance
    • Human resources
    • Promotion and branding strategies
    • Outreach and engagement
    • Donations
    • New projects and initiatives
  • Plan, organise and coordinate various exercises, projects, and functions, including board and committee meetings, internal and external engagement activities;
  • Provide secretarial services, conduct research, and prepare reports and submissions for the University and external stakeholders; and
  • Ensure alignment of all activities with the strategic directions of the School and the University.

Requirements:

  • Possess a recognised degree with at least 10 years of relevant work experience in a related field, preferably in the tertiary education sector;
  • Demonstrate exceptional leadership, management and conflict-resolution skills, with an inspiring and forward-looking aspiration;
  • Exhibit strong analytical and problem-solving abilities;
  • Have excellent communication skills, outstanding interpersonal abilities and a positive attitude to connect with people and motivate colleagues; and
  • Proficient in written and spoken English and Chinese.

The initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract of three years. Re-appointment thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.

Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
