A company that's transforming enterprise employee efficiency with its AI tool is seeking a Head of Research to build, lead, and scale its Research organization. This is a critical and urgent role that will directly influence the company’s LLM and AI capabilities while establishing strong research methodologies and practices.
The ideal candidate brings a combination of academic or military research background, hands-on industry experience, and proven leadership in fast-moving tech environments. This role requires both scientific excellence and an understanding of business-driven product constraints.
Full ownership of the Research group, currently operating without structured leadership.
Establishing research methodologies, processes, and best practices across the team.
Driving innovation while aligning research priorities with product and business roadmaps.
Scaling and mentoring a high-caliber team of researchers and applied scientists.
Partnering closely with the CEO and engineering leadership to bridge research and production.
Leading exploration, design, and evaluation of LLM-driven solutions.
LLM development
Applied research for AI-driven SaaS
Collaboration with engineering teams working in Python, cloud environments (AWS & Azure)
Strong academic or elite military research background (e.g., AI/ML, NLP, Computer Science, Mathematics, related fields).
Proven industry experience applying research in real-world products or systems.
Leadership experience managing teams and driving strategic research direction.
Ability to bring structure, methodology, and clarity into an unstructured research environment.
Demonstrated ability to innovate while staying aligned with business goals and timelines.
Strong communication skills and the ability to partner cross-functionally with product and engineering leaders.
