Head of Quality Management

The Head of Quality Management is a senior leader responsible for establishing, governing, and continuously improving the PG-wide Quality Management System (QMS). This role defines and drives the Quality Strategy, ensuring alignment across all business units and functions to improve quality outcomes, reduce risk, and enhance customer satisfaction.
This leader has dual accountability:
- Building and governing the enterprise Quality Management foundation (strategy, standards, systems, and capabilities), and
- Leading distributed QA/QC execution teams embedded within business units, ensuring consistent application of standards while enabling business-specific operational excellence.
The role serves as the central point of accountability for quality performance across PG, driving cross-functional alignment, transparency, and measurable improvements in key quality metrics (e.g., Cost of Quality, First-Time Quality, and CAPA effectiveness).
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Define and execute the enterprise Quality Strategy and roadmap
- Establish PG as a best-in-class quality organization with measurable outcomes
- Drive enterprise alignment on quality priorities, investments, and standards
- Serve as the executive owner of quality performance across all BUs
Business Unit Partnership
- Partner with BU leadership to embed quality into end-to-end operations
- Ensure alignment between enterprise standards and BU execution realities
- Influence senior stakeholders to drive quality-first decision making
Operational Excellence
- Ensure all teams operate with clear charters, KPIs, and service levels
- Drive adoption of standard methodologies (RCA, CAPA, FMEA, audits)
- Monitor and improve quality performance metrics across PG
- Lead prioritization and execution of quality improvement initiatives
People Leadership
- Recruit, develop, and retain top talent across the QM, QA, and QC Teams.
- Foster a culture of curiosity, accountability, and innovation within the function
- Coach team leads and develop succession plans for critical roles
- Set clear performance expectations and conduct regular performance reviews
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, Operations Management, or a related field
- 15+ years of progressive leadership experience, including substantial time in operations, execution, engineering, supply chain, or project delivery environmentsand/or including5+ years of direct experience in Quality Management, Quality Assurance, or Quality Control leadership roles
- Demonstrated experience leading large, complex organizations and cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment
- Proven track record of driving business performance improvements (e.g., operational execution, cost, schedule, customer outcomes), with direct exposure to quality-related challenges
- Strong understanding of end-to-end business operations, including how quality impacts execution, customer delivery, and financial performance
- Experience leading or significantly contributing to quality improvement initiatives (e.g., defect reduction, CAPA, RCA, risk mitigation), even if not in a dedicated quality role [
- Working knowledge of quality management systems (QMS), standard methodologies (RCA, CAPA, FMEA), and continuous improvement approaches (Lean / Six Sigma)
- Proven ability to lead enterprise change and transformation, including implementing new processes, governance models, or organizational structures
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder influence skills, including the ability to align senior executives and drive cross-functional accountability
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, with the ability to translate operational and quality insights into actionable business improvements
Preferred
- Direct experience building or leading enterprise Quality Management Systems (QMS) or audit/compliance programs
- Professional certifications (e.g., Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, ASQ CQE/CMQ, ISO Lead Auditor)
- Experience establishing or transforming a new function, organization, or operating model
- Experience in complex, project-based or industrial environments (e.g., energy, EPC, manufacturing, field service)
- Experience leading internal and external audit processes and interacting with regulatory or certification bodies
- Demonstrated success driving quality culture transformation or embedding a “right-first-time” mindset across an organization
- Familiarity with quality performance metrics (e.g., COQ, FTQ) and their linkage to business outcomes
