About the role

GlobalConnect is entering a new chapter. As we modernize our technology landscape, simplify operations, and build the infrastructure that will support the next generation of connectivity, we are improving how we deliver strategic projects across the organization. To support this journey, we are looking for a Head of Project Excellence.

This is a newly established role and a rare opportunity to define how project management is practiced within GlobalConnect. You will establish standards, ways of working, governance models, and reporting structures while building and shaping a team of 4–5 Project Managers.

Your first and most visible responsibility will be the GlobalConnect Transformation Programme – a large-scale, multi-year initiative that spans commercial systems, network infrastructure, operational readiness, business processes, and data foundations. The programme involves multiple business units, technology teams, and external partners, all working towards a shared vision for the future of GlobalConnect.

You will step into a programme with real business impact, bringing structure, governance, and alignment across interconnected workstreams. You will help stakeholders understand priorities, identify dependencies, address risks early, and ensure decisions are made at the right level and at the right time.

This role combines strategic responsibility with direct involvement. In the early stages, you will be deeply involved in both project delivery and team building. Over time, you will establish a trusted project management capability that supports strategic initiatives across the broader Technology, IT & Security organization and becomes a valued partner across GlobalConnect.

To thrive in this role, we think you need

• Extensive experience managing complex, cross-functional projects or programmes involving multiple stakeholders and delivery teams
• Experience establishing a project management function, PMO, or delivery organization, including governance, reporting, and delivery frameworks
• Demonstrated experience leading large-scale transformation programmes involving multiple business units, technology teams, and external partners
• Solid knowledge of project governance, steering committees, programme boards, risk management, and executive stakeholder engagement
• Solid communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trust across both business and technical teams
• Experience from the telecom industry, network, infrastructure, or digital transformation initiatives
• Fluent in English and in either Danish or Swedish
• Based in Copenhagen or Stockholm

What you will do

• Establish and shape GlobalConnect’s project management capability, including standards, governance, tools, and ways of working
• Build and guide a team of 4–5 Project Managers while creating a collaborative and accountable team culture
• Manage project delivery excellence across strategic initiatives within Technology, IT & Security
• Oversee governance and delivery within the GlobalConnect Transformation Programme and ensure alignment across technology, operations, commercial systems, and business readiness activities
• Identify dependencies, remove obstacles, and create visibility across programme and project portfolios
• Facilitate decision-making by bringing together the right stakeholders at the right time
• Establish clear reporting structures, action tracking, documentation practices, and delivery metrics
• Support the transition from consultant-heavy project delivery towards a more capable internal capability
• Partner closely with senior leadership to ensure projects remain aligned with business priorities
• Expand project management support into additional strategic areas as the function grows, including AI initiatives, enterprise platforms, security, and future transformation programmes

The Transformation Programme

The GlobalConnect Transformation Programme is one of the most strategically important initiatives in the company and will help define the next decade of GlobalConnect.

The programme spans several interconnected delivery areas, including commercial and customer-facing systems, network and platform infrastructure, business readiness, operational readiness, and data migration. Each area has its own stakeholders, priorities, and dependencies, yet all workstreams must come together to reach a common objective.

You will establish the governance structure, delivery rhythm, and coordination required to bring these workstreams together. This is not a programme where you will simply oversee status reports. You will play a central role in creating momentum, ensuring alignment, and helping teams move forward when complexity increases.
