What’s the Role:

Westpac is seeking an enterprise leader to build and scale our Product Practice. This is a highimpact role accountable for embedding customerfirst, outcomeled product ownership across the Group, driving a stepchange in how product is defined, governed and delivered at pace. You will shape the future of product at Westpac—establishing standards, lifting capability, and enabling the safe, scalable use of data, analytics and AI to accelerate value delivery and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and lead the Product Practice strategy, establishing enterprise standards, frameworks, patterns and maturity measures
  • Deliver the Strategic Workforce Plan (SWP), including capability forecasting, talent pipelines, recruitment standards, and succession planning
  • Embed a data-led, customer-first culture, influencing executive forums, planning cycles and decision-making rhythms
  • Stand up and lead governance forums, ensuring alignment, prioritisation, and consistent decision-making across the enterprise
  • Drive capability uplift across Product Owners, including literacy, citizen development and future-fit skill building
  • Enable safe, scalable adoption of data, analytics and AI, accelerating speed-to-insight and time-to-value
  • Lead the Product Owner community, defining career pathways, role clarity and capability expectations
  • Own enterprise asset governance, ensuring reuse, consistency, quality and scalability across platforms

Risk & Governance

  • Operate within Group risk appetite, embedding strong governance, privacy and ethical practices
  • Ensure outputs are trusted, explainable, auditable and decision-ready
  • Provide oversight and escalation on high-risk analytics use cases
  • Maintain effective controls, assurance and documentation aligned to Group standards

What do I need?

  • Proven enterprise leadership experience building or scaling Product or Digital Practices
  • Strong track record in data-led transformation, with exposure to analytics and AI at scale
  • Experience shaping workforce strategy, capability uplift and talent pipelines
  • Credible executive influencer with the ability to drive cultural and behavioural change
  • Deep understanding of governance, risk and operating models in complex, regulated environments
  • Passion for building inclusive, high-performing communities of practice

  • Measurable uplift in Product Owner capability and data-led decision-making
  • Increased adoption and effective use of analytics, AI and self-service tools within governance guardrails
  • Improved consistency, reuse and quality across Divisions
  • Demonstrable progress in enterprise Product maturity
  • Sustained business value from Practice investments, underpinned by strong cultural adoption
  • A future-ready workforce, supported by robust talent pipelines and workforce planning
