Purpose

To define and execute the product strategy for SAP Business Network Marketplace — the supplier-side experience platform connecting millions of trading partners globally - enabling millions of trading partners to discover buyers, manage catalog and transactions, onboard seamlessly, and automate commerce workflows.

This role leads a global product management organization responsible for the full Marketplace portfolio: NextGen Marketplace evolution, supplier discovery and promote, catalog management, onboarding, commerce automation, support, and AI/agentic capabilities.

The role drives the Marketplace from a transactional network into an intelligent, self-optimizing commerce ecosystem. This role owns the full product scope:

  • Supplier Discovery & Promote: own the product vision for federated search, supplier discovery, and promote capabilities that connect buyers and sellers at scale across the network.
  • Catalog Management: define the roadmap for catalog authoring, syndication, and enrichment — enabling suppliers to present rich, accurate product data to millions of buyers.
  • Supplier Onboarding: drive simplification and automation of the onboarding journey — reducing time-to-first-transaction and improving supplier activation rates at global scale.
  • Commerce Automation: shape the roadmap for transaction automation, invoice/order processing, and workflow orchestration that supports 99.99% availability commerce at scale.
  • Support & Agentic Capabilities: lead the product strategy for AI/GenAI-powered support experiences — including agentic self-service, intelligent troubleshooting, and proactive supplier assistance.
  • Roadmap Prioritization: own cross-portfolio prioritization across all Marketplace sub-areas; balance customer demand, strategic value, and engineering capacity.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks

People Leadership

  • As a people manager, you are responsible for supporting the success of not only your direct reports, but the success of all employees within the larger team by helping to identify development opportunities and supporting team members to achieve their goals.
  • Lead multiple Product Management teams on-site in Bangalore, fostering a strong in-office culture of collaboration, customer focus, and product excellence.
  • Build and scale the Marketplace PM organization — hiring top product talent and establishing best practices for AI-native, customer-centric product development.
  • Actively manage organizational change and enable people managers in own area of responsibility.
  • Realize skills gaps well in advance; drive up-skilling strategy especially around AI/GenAI product capabilities and data-driven product management.
  • Create an environment of continuous learning; regularly offer feedback and support challenging development goals.

Strategic Direction

  • Define and own the multi-year product vision and roadmap for the BN Marketplace — spanning supplier discovery, catalog, onboarding, commerce transactions, and agentic automation.
  • Function as the operational link between SAP Business Network's overall strategy and Marketplace business results; set direction through a clear vision, strategy, and business plan.
  • Build execution plans with the management team and monitor execution against the product plan; manage critical resource situations and their impact on deliverables.
  • Establishing product management best practices, frameworks, and operating rhythms.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of trends in B2B commerce, supplier experience, and AI and translate those into product strategy for BN Marketplace.
  • Report regularly to senior executive steering committees and advise on strategic Marketplace topics.

Accountability

  • Manages the BN Marketplace Product Management function by integrating current and future customer needs, SAP's business strategy, and financial objectives.
  • Develops functional strategy and specific objectives for the product sub-function; defines policies and operating norms to support the product infrastructure.
  • Accountable for the Marketplace portfolio roadmap and its business outcomes across supplier-side capabilities, commerce automation, and AI-powered experiences.

Complexity

  • Serves as the operational link between SAP Business Network's overall product strategy and concrete Marketplace delivery outcomes.
  • Drives multiple high-impact product initiatives across a global supplier ecosystem — spanning onboarding, discovery, catalog, commerce, and agentic automation.
  • Navigates complex cross-functional dependencies across Engineering, Sales, Marketing, UX, and strategic customers.

AI-Native Product Development

  • Embed AI and GenAI capabilities as first-class product features across the Marketplace portfolio — from intelligent onboarding guides to agentic commerce automation.
  • Partner with Data and AI engineering teams to define AI product requirements: recommendation systems, ranking algorithms, natural language interfaces, and agentic workflows.
  • Define success metrics for AI features; establish feedback loops and data instrumentation to drive continuous model and product improvement.
  • Stay at the forefront of GenAI application patterns (RAG, LLM agents, copilot experiences) and apply them to supplier-side product innovation.

Customer & Market Orientation

  • Maintain deep understanding of supplier/trading-partner needs through continuous customer engagement, research, and data analysis.
  • Define and track product KPIs — supplier activation, engagement, PSAT, transaction volumes — and use data to drive roadmap decisions.
  • Partner with Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success to develop go-to-market strategies and drive adoption of new Marketplace capabilities.
  • Represent SAP Business Network Marketplace at customer advisory boards, industry forums, and strategic partner engagements.

Communication

  • Builds and maintains strategic partnerships with key decision makers internally and in customer and partner organizations; represents SAP externally.
