Job Description

About the role

The Head of Product is responsible for the design, governance and lifecycle management of Progeny's product and solution range, ensuring all products manufactured or distributed are appropriately designed, targeted, fairly priced and deliver good client outcomes in line with FCA requirements and Consumer Duty.

This is a dual-hatted role, leading product governance across Progeny Wealth (PW) and acting as the senior product lead for Progeny Asset Management (PAM). The role is responsible for oversight of the ACD governance relationship and ensuring Progeny meets its obligations as a product manufacturer across its fund range.

As the accountable owner of the product governance framework, the Head of Product is responsible for the Product Governance Committee and for providing the evidence, oversight and assurance needed to demonstrate to both the Board and regulator that products continue to meet client needs and remain fit for purpose throughout their lifecycle.

Key Areas of Focus

Progeny Wealth Product Governance

Own the end-to-end product governance framework across the wealth proposition, including target market identification and review, product approval and change processes, fair value assessments, distribution oversight and ongoing product monitoring supported by MI.

PAM / ACD Governance

Act as the senior product lead for Progeny Asset Management (PAM), owning the governance relationship with the Authorised Corporate Director (ACD). Responsibilities include fund oversight, Assessment of Value activity, share class and pricing reviews, manufacturer obligations under PROD 3, fund documentation management and governance reporting across PAM, the ACD and relevant committees.

Product Strategy and Range Development

Shape the future product roadmap by identifying proposition gaps, rationalising overlapping solutions and developing products that meet client needs while supporting strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead Progeny's product governance framework across Progeny Wealth and PAM, ensuring compliance with PROD, Consumer Duty and COLL requirements.
  • Chair the Product Governance Committee, setting agendas, preparing papers and ensuring actions are completed.
  • Manage the ACD governance relationship for PAM, including oversight reporting, escalation and Assessment of Value activities.
  • Define, document and review target markets, distribution strategies and negative target markets for all products.
  • Oversee fair value assessments, ensuring pricing, costs and client benefits are evidenced and defensible.
  • Lead production of the Consumer Duty Board Report.
  • Oversee product approval, change and withdrawal processes, ensuring appropriate challenge, governance and client communication.
  • Develop and maintain product MI, monitoring performance and client outcomes while escalating concerns where necessary.
  • Manage relationships with external product, platform and fund providers, ensuring agreed governance and service standards are met.
  • Provide clear reporting and escalation to the Director of Client Proposition, the PAM Board and relevant governance committees.
  • Lead, coach and support the Product Manager and wider product team.
