About the role
As Head of Platform Security, you will lead Tesco's strategy for securing enterprise platforms across hybrid cloud, workplace technology, developer platforms, and emerging AI capabilities. You'll drive a secure-by-design approach, enabling engineering teams to build and operate secure platforms at scale while leading a high-performing team of security leaders, architects, and engineers.

You will be responsible for
  • Defining and delivering Tesco's Platform Security strategy across cloud, infrastructure, workplace, AI, and engineering platforms.
  • Embedding security into platforms, products, and services through secure-by-default frameworks and reusable controls.
  • Driving security transformation initiatives that improve security outcomes while enabling business and technology objectives.
  • Leading the design and implementation of scalable security capabilities, engineering patterns, and risk management approaches.
  • Establishing security roadmaps, priorities, governance, and measurable outcomes.
  • Supporting the adoption of new technologies and platforms, including AI-enabled services, securely and at scale.
  • Driving collaboration between engineering, architecture, infrastructure, data, AI, and cyber security teams.

You will need
  • Significant experience leading security teams within large, complex organisations.
  • Strong background in Platform Security, Security Architecture, or Security Engineering.
  • Experience securing hybrid environments across on-premises infrastructure, public cloud, and workplace technologies.
  • Deep understanding of Azure, GCP, Kubernetes, OpenShift, VMware, CI/CD security, software supply chain security, identity and access management, and Zero Trust principles.
  • Proven ability to translate technical risks into business outcomes and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Experience managing large-scale security programmes, budgets, and organisational change.
  • AI, automation, and platform-led security experience is highly desirable.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, SABSA, TOGAF, or CRISC are advantageous.
