Isle of Wight NHS Trust (IWT) and Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust (PHU) have a shared vision of a single corporate service across our two organisations, supported by a single set of identical systems and processes, under joint leadership, to drive significant efficiencies, improve employee experience, and return time to patient care.

This vacancy is part of the Single Corporate Services Division.

The single corporate service is delivered across both organisations. You may be based at either IWT or PHU and individuals may be required to undertake business travel between sites. For leaders managing staff across multi-site locations, you will need to be visible and provide in person leadership. The arrangements and frequency will be agreed locally.

Job Description

Head of People Partnering and Transformation - Band 8c

We are seeking an exceptional and experienced leader to join our People Services Team as Head of People Partnering and Transformation. This is a key strategic leadership role, providing expert people leadership and support across both Isle of Wight NHS Trust and Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust

You will lead the People Partnering function, providing leadership, direction, and development to the HR and OD Business Partner team. Working closely with senior leaders, you will drive organisational transformation, helping to shape the future of our workforce and services. Working across our two sites, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Trust Leadership Teams, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, proactive people partnering services that enable organisational objectives to be achieved.

You will be an experienced people professional with a strong track record of leading teams, influencing at a senior level and delivering large-scale change and transformation initiatives. You will be comfortable working across multiple sites and building strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.

This role involves regular travel and a visible presence across both the Isle of Wight and Portsmouth, reflecting our commitment to collaborative working across our partner organisations.

Qualifications

• Educated to a masters degree or equivalent post-graduate qualification.
• Full membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, or equivalent.
• Evidence of on-going personal and professional development.

Experience

• Significant experience of providing operational and strategic HR advice to senior leadership teams including organisational change, TUPE, complex employee relation cases.
• Evidence of effective working at a senior level in a large, complex, and high performing environment.
• Evidence of providing business-led advice that supports all aspects of employee relations.
• Experience of developing constructive working relationships with trade union representatives through negotiation and consultation.
• Experience of designing strategies to ensure HR provides clear business-focused outcomes aligned over the long term to delivery of the councils workforce plan.
• Experience of working collaboratively across organisational boundaries.
• Strong leadership and management skills, including people and performance management.
• Knowledge of employment procedures and legislation
• Knowledge of NHS national terms and conditions
• Confident with working with people at all levels, internal or external to the organisation.
• Demonstrable ability to inspire confidence and trust in others, able to draw solutions from others.
