Job Description

  • Salary ranges from $159,498 - $172,792 + super & leave loading.
  • Temporary Fulltime Opportunity until 31st December 2028
  • Based at Sydney Olympic Park location – flexible work arrangements will be considered.

About the role

The NSW Institute of Sport (NSWIS) is seeking an experienced and passionate Head of People and Development to lead the organisation's people strategy and help shape a high-performing, values-driven culture that enables athletes, coaches and staff to thrive.

Reporting to the General Manager, Corporate Services, this pivotal leadership role is responsible for driving workforce capability, organisational development, employee experience, integrity, safeguarding and people operations across NSWIS. As a trusted advisor to the Executive and senior leaders, you will partner across the business to create an inclusive, safe and high-performing environment that supports NSWIS's vision of being a world-leading sporting institute.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and delivery of people and culture strategies that attract, develop and retain top talent.
  • Partner with the Executive and senior leaders to implement contemporary, inclusive workplace practices that foster engagement, wellbeing and high performance.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on employee relations, performance management, workplace investigations, grievances and conduct matters.

About you

You are a strategic and collaborative people leader who thrives in purpose-driven, high-performance environments. You bring strong commercial and operational HR expertise, coupled with a genuine passion for developing people and creating cultures where individuals and teams can perform at their best.

Key knowledge and experience

  • Senior level experience, or someone with high capability looking to take the next step, in delivering People and Development functions in a complex organisation (government experience desirable).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of H&S legislation, regulation and best practice.
  • Demonstrated experience in workforce planning and driving organisational change projects to a successful completion.
  • Understanding of the National Integrity Framework and NSW Child Safe Standards.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of workplace relations, specifically the development and management of industrial relations and negotiations, and Enterprise Agreements
  • Experience in delivering organisational learning management systems (desirable).

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. human resources, business management, or similar)
  • Current Working with Children check
