Head of Patient Recruitment -- US or UK - Remote

We are currently seeking a Head of Patient Recruitment, a strategic leader to join our diverse and dynamic Patient Recruitment & Retention organization. You will be responsible for developing and implementing the patient recruitment strategies to advance the future of Patient Recruitment in clinical trials through technology, external partnership collaborations, and our in house capabilities to support ICON's research objectives in expanding access to clinical trials for sites and their patients and delivering cutting edge solutions for our customers.


What You Will Be Doing

  • Leading and managing the patient recruitment team (patient insights, digital patient recruitment and recruitment materials), providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure the effective execution of recruitment plans and initiatives.

  • Strategic leader in Patient Recruitment leveraging technology and innovation to advance and positive disruption in Patient Recruitment in clinical trials – this includes and is not limited to innovation leveraging AI, platform enhancements and establishing key strategic partnerships.

  • You will manage external relationships with recruitment partners, including evaluating their strategic value to ICON, performance and ensuring compliance with contractual agreements and regulatory requirements.

  • Strategic customer engagement to initiate and/or expand Patient Recruitment Portfolio

  • Responsible for P&L management for the service area

  • Establish competitive commercial and pricing models to enable customers to award to us

  • Contribute to the ICON strategic direction in patient recruitment

  • Analyzing recruitment data and metrics to assess the effectiveness of recruitment strategies, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions to optimize recruitment efforts.

  • Developing and implementing comprehensive patient recruitment strategies that align with ICON Plc’s clinical trial objectives and enhance participant enrollment.

  • Overseeing the design and execution of recruitment campaigns and outreach programs to attract and engage potential participants, including collaboration with healthcare providers and community organizations.

  • Collaborating with clinical trial teams, study coordinators, and stakeholders to ensure alignment of recruitment strategies with trial protocols and timelines.

  • Ensuring adherence to ethical standards, regulatory guidelines, and internal policies related to patient recruitment and clinical trials.

  • Staying informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in patient recruitment to drive innovation and improve recruitment processes.


Your Profile

  • A bachelor’s degree in life sciences, healthcare, or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., Certified Clinical Research Coordinator) are highly desirable.

  • Extensive experience and track record in patient recruitment and bringing innovative solutions within patient recruitment

  • Strong understanding of digital patient recruitment

  • Strong financial acumen required; management of a P&L preferred

  • Extensive experience in patient recruitment and clinical trial management, with a proven track record of successfully implementing recruitment strategies and achieving enrollment goals.

  • Strong understanding of clinical trial processes, patient recruitment techniques, and regulatory requirements related to participant enrollment.

  • Exceptional leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and lead teams, drive recruitment initiatives, and achieve strategic objectives.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with patients, healthcare providers, and stakeholders.

  • Expert in recruitment tools and technologies, with experience in managing recruitment campaigns and analyzing performance data.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess recruitment challenges, develop effective solutions, and improve recruitment strategies.

  • Effective organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

  • Based in Eastern or Central US or the UK and able to travel up to 25%
