As the Head of Medical Affairs, UK for vaccines, you will lead and drive patient protection with Bavarian Nordic in the UK, using scientific expertise to collaborate with external as well as internal partners to strengthen Bavarian Nordic’s scientific footprint. The position is fully remote (within UK), and you will collaborate with our Southern European team to shape the future of healthcare while enjoying the freedom to make a real impact. The role reports to Director Medical Affairs ROW and you should expect at least 30% field presence.
The role
As the Head of Medical Affairs, UK it is your responsibility to develop professional scientific relationships with key experts in disease states of strategic importance, and act as the subject matter expert for assigned vaccines including cross-functional work at local level in UK. Some of your main tasks will be
Develop and execute the local Medical Plan for assigned vaccines
Support planning and execution of medical education initiatives to strengthen disease and vaccine knowledge and Bavarian Nordic’s scientific reputation
Plan and execute insights-generating initiatives, e.g., advisory board meetings
Review and approve local promotional material
Support medical training for marketing and sales colleagues
Support potential investigators in submitting Investigator Initiated Studies to enhance the understanding of the scientific foundations and goals of the study
Respond to unsolicited scientific queries on Bavarian Nordic vaccines
Support special projects upon request and assist with other responsibilities/projects as they arise
Localize global documents to meet local language and regulatory requirements
What you bring
You hold an academic degree in a life‑science discipline, such as Medicine, Pharmacy, Biology or Biochemistry. You have experience as a Medical Manager, or Senior Medical Advisor within a pharmaceutical organization. You bring solid knowledge in vaccines and/or immunology. As we are a global organization, we expect you to hold full proficiency English.
To be successful in this role, you must have experience in Brand Team collaboration, contributing to brand strategy and integrated brand plan.
In general, you are good at building networks and have excellent interpersonal skills. You can understand, interpret, and explain complex scientific and medical details.
Good knowledge of UK pharma industry standards and guidance for promotional and non-promotional activities and irreproachable attention to ethics and compliance is also key.
From a more practical point of view, you can travel as required for the role.
