We are seeking an outstanding individual to lead ourMarket & Competitive Intelligencefunction within the European Executive Office.The role sits at the center of the European business andis responsible forshaping how the European Leadership Team and Boards understand market reality, competitivedynamicsandemerging industry shifts.
The Head of Market &CompetitiveIntelligence will define theexternal insight agenda;determiningwhat matters, how it should beanalysed, and how it issynthesized for executive decision-makers.While the roledoes notownstrategyor execution, it plays a critical role in shaping strategic choices bygrounding decisionsinrigorous, forward-looking market intelligence.Thisrole requires the incumbent to be, or to become, deeply externally networked across the European asset management ecosystem,maintainingactive relationships with industry leaders, advisors, dataprovidersand thought leaders.
Thisis a high visibilityleadershipposition with regular exposure to senior leadership and Board-level discussions
KeyResponsibilities
The role has three core pillars
European Market & Competitive Intelligence
Define andprioritisethe firm’s market and competitor intelligence agenda.
Lead analysis of competitors’ strategy, product evolution, pricing,distributionand business model shifts.
Monitor industry structure trends including flows, fee dynamics, regulatorydevelopmentsand ecosystem disruption.
Build and sustain a strong external network to source insight, challenge internalperspectivesandidentifyemerging themes ahead of market consensus.
Identifyemerging risks and opportunities across a 12–36 monthhorizon.
Translate competitive and market developments into clear, forward-looking implications for Vanguard’s strategy,positioningand operating choices in Europe.
Analytical Frameworks & Insight Architecture
Develop structured competitor profiles, ecosystemmapsand thematic deep dives.
Maintaindisciplined horizon scanning to reduce strategicsurprise
Leverage advanced analytics and AI-enabled tools to enhance competitive monitoring,synthesisand insight generation, raising both the speed and quality of executive intelligence.
Executive & Board-levelSynthesis
Curate market and competitive content for Executive Committee and Board materials.
Proactively shape leadership dialogue by surfacing emerging competitive trendsandframing second-and third-order implications, ensuringfocus on what may change next, not just what has already changed.
Ensure a coherent, externally grounded enterprise narrative, raising the clarity and consistency of market-related insight across theorganisation
Provide concise briefing materials to support senior decision-making.
