Your role

You will lead regional spend under the Global Sourcing Operations organization and oversee the resources within Sourcing. You will closely collaborate with Category Managers to translate category strategies into actionable sourcing strategies that align with the organization’s business objectives. You will serve as the BP to counterparts in the ISCO organization (Value Chain / GPO) and foster a collegial environment where team members support each other. You will ensure that Sourcing Life Science commitments take precedence over individual or group commitments, promoting a unified approach to achieving organizational goals. You will drive the development and execution of sourcing initiatives that enable reliable, high-quality supplier performance to support growth and innovation. You will lead efforts to improve product quality, achieve cost savings, and enhance operational efficiency through supplier collaboration and strategic benchmarking. You will influence change in the face of complexity, resistance, and ambiguity to deliver tangible results. You will promote close interaction with local stakeholders to address site-specific challenges and opportunities. You will guide the regional team through transformation, upskilling, and stronger impact across critical manufacturing sites for Life Science. You will ensure that supplier relationships are built on integrity, transparency, and continuous improvement, enabling sustainable competitive advantage. You will model and reinforce a high-performance culture that prioritizes collective success and shared accountability.

Who you are

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in regional sourcing or supplier management within a Life Science or similarly regulated environment.
  • A proven track record of translating category strategies into practical sourcing programs that deliver cost savings and quality improvements.
  • Strong collaboration skills with Category Managers, Value Chain and GPO partners, and local stakeholders.
  • Exceptional change leadership capability with the ability to navigate complexity, resistance, and ambiguity.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels.
  • Experience managing regional teams, driving transformation, and upskilling staff for higher impact.
  • In-depth understanding of supplier performance metrics, risk management, and supplier development best practices.
  • Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus.

The position is open in Molsheim, France, Darmstadt, Germany and any other Merck site withing EUROPE
