Location: Chorley (with a requirement for UK travel when required)

Employment type: Permanent / Full Time

Working Hours: Monday to Friday

About the role…

We are looking for an experienced Head of HR Admin & Systems to lead the delivery of high-quality HR operational services. This role is responsible for HR systems governance, payroll oversight, HR administration excellence, and leading continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, compliance and employee experience.

Reporting into the HR function, you will manage a small HR administration team, be the PeopleHR system lead playing a key role in driving automation, process optimisation and ensuring data integrity.

As Head of HR Admin & Systems you will…

  • Be the lead owner and administrator of PeopleHR, ensuring data accuracy, governance, compliance, reporting capability, and effective system utilisation.
  • Develop and deliver a measurable HR systems improvement plan, identifying opportunities to automate, standardise, and optimise HR processes.
  • Document HR administration processes and communicate to the wider HR team and other stakeholders.
  • Manage and develop your team ensuring a high-quality and consistent HR administration service.
  • Be the escalation point for payroll processing and pension administration. Work with the internal payroll team to document processes and communicate to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Produce HR dashboards, reports, and analytics to support informed decision-making across HR and business leadership teams.
  • Drive compliance, audit, data governance, and reporting activities including GDPR adherence, Gender Pay Gap reporting, ESG reporting, and other statutory requirements.

About you…

You will bring significant experience in HR administration and systems management and payroll operations within a complex or multi-site environment. You will have a strong understanding of HR processes, employment documentation, data governance, compliance requirements and payroll and pension administration.

You will be highly analytical with exceptional attention to detail and a passion for continuous improvement. Experience of HR digital transformation projects, system implementations, reporting tools, and managing teams will be essential. A CIPD Level 5 qualification, or equivalent experience, would be advantageous.

You will also have:

  • Proven experience managing HRIS platforms and HR data.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll and pension administration processes.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and confidence using reporting and analytics tools.
  • Experience driving process improvement and operational efficiencies.
  • A commitment to delivering exceptional service and maintaining the highest standards of data accuracy and compliance.
