Job Responsibilities

This role is responsible for steering the strategic direction and operational excellence of the Global Project Cargo trade team. As Section Leader for Project Cargo, the incumbent assumes full accountability for the overall performance, profitability, and growth of the cargo portfolio across the assigned Long Haul and Intra‑Asia trades. The role encompasses business development and sales activities for the Global Project Cargo business, as well as oversight of long‑haul trade transversal matters, including budget management, equipment planning, ISP, and Value‑Added Services (VAS) product planning. In addition, the incumbent represents the Long Haul trade as VAS Product Manager, driving the development, execution, and growth of the trade‑owned VAS portfolio.

1. Strategic Leadership and Direction:

  • Elaborate and execute Global Project Cargo business strategies for each trade, focusing on market growth, right cargo-mix and customer-mix, and enhanced financial outcomes.
  • Provide Global Project Cargo trade guidance, ensuring strategies are well understood and executed effectively
  • Make decisive Global Project Cargo rate policy and adjustment decisions, aligning them with the strategic and financial goals of the trades (Budget)

2. Financial Performance and Strategic Analysis:

  • Responsible for the responsible Global Project Cargo Trades’ P&L.
  • Ensuring the trades services remain competitive and reach a financial outcome which is above the industry average.

3. Sales / Operational Excellence and Market Expansion:

  • Business development, present sales strategies/solution and operational plan for Global Project Cargo customers.
  • Lead market expansion efforts, driving customer diversification and exploring new Project Cargo opportunities.
  • Challenge status-quo and always seek improvement and more efficiency in terms of work process, product setup and customer expectation.
  • Share & drive new ideas of business development

4. Overview of Long Haul Trade Transversal Matters

  • Lead all key long haul trade transversal subject matters (i.e. budget, equipment planning, ISP VAS product planning etc ) and project initiatives forward from identification to closure. Initiatives shall include aiming at improving business processes, implementing new trade process, or driving change within LH organization.
  • Lead the team to collaborate with other cross-functional teams (i.e. Reefer Desk / Project cargo / GCAM/BCD/TDP/IA/EMD/Finance/OPPC), manage stakeholders, and ensure project delivery within timeline, objective, and quality constraints.
  • Represent long haul to work closely with the relevant subject matter experts to drive for team and function efficiency (i.e. best practice / process).
  • Provide a “Check and balance” perspective of each long-haul lane cargo selection based on routing and contribution margin, through developing regular report to highlight any "out of norm" case

5. Drive the development and growth of trade owned VAS portfolio

  • Support the development of VAS product strategy by assisting in gathering business requirement, identifying target segments, and tracking progress toward annual targets.
  • Collaborate with VAS team to the launch and growth of targeted VAS products by helping define value propositions and supporting upselling efforts to drive adoption within key customer segments.
  • Achieve and drive VAS budget targets, and ensure respective trade owner to maintain and update the VAS opportunity pipeline in PILGO!
  • Facilitate VAS roll out and engage key stakeholders with the right knowledge and tools, driving stronger engagement, confidence, and self-sufficiency in promoting VAS solutions.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field.
  • At least 10-12 years trade management or related experience with a global liner
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
